Disappointing We always stay at the Royal Park when in town visiting family, however this time was our last. After a poor check in experience, with our card being declined numerous times, then being asked to try another credit card, to have that declined, then for us to check our banking app to find the hold charge for incidentals had gone through six times, our stay didn’t start off well. There seemed to be a decline in service at the property since our last visit in 2021. The new parking charges of $20 per day for self, or $30 for valet, are an absolute joke, and quite frankly a brazen money grab. In addition to the disgusting parking charge, there’s a new ‘amenity fee’ of $15 per day. I did ask the agent on check what this fee was for, but never did receive an actual answer. I’m still curious to know what the additional amenities were that we paid an additional $15 per day for were. The hotel itself is looking very dated. The lift control panels need an overhaul, as do the rooms. It’s 2024, and there’s still no in room coffee machine or smart tv. We were on the 2nd floor and it looked as though a renovation had been attempted, but only in the corner sections of the corridor, where there was new carpet, paint and lights, very strange. On our first night, the ice machine was not working, which meant going up to the next floor, and on the morning of departure, the coffee in the lobby had run out, which meant a wait for it to be replenished. First world problems of course, however there just didn’t seem to be any attention to detail. There were no longer any miniature toiletries in the bathroom, no cotton buds or wash mitt as was standard in every one of our previous visits. I understand that businesses are trying to cut costs, but at a higher end property such as the Royal Park, it shouldn’t be noticeable, and it definitely should not be negatively impacting guests. We’ve since been informed that the hotel was sold, and is no longer a family business, which explains the decline in standards, and nickel and diming with the new charges. A welcome drink and a lame voucher for a complimentary drink, do not make up for the exorbitant extra charges that are now standard at the Royal Park. We paid for our three night stay in full on booking, and on check out, had to pay an additional $60 for parking, plus $45 for the mysterious amenity fee, in addition to tax. Never again.

Expected more for the price Pro: Room was spacious and quiet, location is very convenient for a quick walk to Main St. and vicinity. Con: No one offered help with luggage, bathroom lamp fixtures were dusty, no information in room on hotel features and services, website photo showed two comfortable chairs in room but we only had one. In this price range, expect a little more effort and maybe even some small treat or gesture that exceeds expectations.

Disappointed I have stayed at this hotel many times for business over the past few years. Overall, the hotel is a beautiful property, but it does need better maintenance. For example, the hallway carpet is stained and dirty, many scrapes down the hallways and on doors, etc. I always thought the price was on the high side for what it is, but the location made up for it. On the last stay, there were extra charges added to my bill ($15 each day for amenities and $20 each day for parking, plus taxes) which was a surprise. There was no verbiage on my printed confirmation addressing either one of these charges. When I brought it up to the front counter, the charge was pointed to on the check in sheet and I was told that "now you know." I have stayed here because it is not a chain, and they did not nickel and dime the guest. Evidently, that has changed.

Beautiful property The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The valet service was busy but they were amazing. We had poor service in the bar. We canceled our order for one appetizer after waiting 45 minutes. It came out afterwards and we were still charged.

Valet stole from me I had an unfortunate experience of utilizing the valet service at Royal Park Hotel and was deeply disappointed by the outcome. Upon returning to my vehicle, I discovered that my expensive sunglasses had been stolen. Not only did the theft of my sunglasses result in a financial loss, but it also marred what should have been a pleasant experience. The lack of security measures in place to prevent such incidents reflects poorly on the professionalism and integrity of the valet service. The response from the establishment upon reporting the theft was inadequate. The staff seemed dismissive of my concerns and offered little assistance in addressing the situation or providing compensation for the stolen item. As a customer, I expect to feel safe and respected when entrusting my vehicle to a valet service. Unfortunately, this experience has left me with a sense of unease and reluctance to utilize valet services in the future.
