Beautiful, large room We had a wonderful stay at the Vizcaya. The room was large with lots of light. The bed was comfortable and it was a very quiet place to stay. This venue is also used for weddings so we watched a dress-rehearsal our of our window. It would be a beautiful place to have a small wedding. Parking was free and very convenient. The breakfast selection was plenty and tastefully done for a "cold" breakfast.

Awful old mattress, shower backed up, car got robbed in their parking lot Property itself was beautiful. The young man who checked me in was great. I stayed in carriage house 3 which required walking through a wedding to get to the room, kinda awkward. The wood stairs up to the room seriously need to be replaced, they are soft and feel like they might give way. The room was very pretty. Huge bath tub/shower. Bathtub drained fine, but when I took a shower in the AM the shower backed up. The mattress was AWFUL. It had a significant dip in the middle. I could not find a position that did not hurt my back (I don't have back problems at all, it was just the mattress). There was a very loud machine (sounded almost like an air compressor or gas generator) that would come on every hour and violently shake the building, so I woke up once every hour all night. They offer street parking, or have a small 3 car parking lot. I got a spot in the lot which I assumed would be safer and came out to discover my car had been broken into and my GPS and flash drive stolen. Came in and asked if they had a camera back there, answer was no and oh well... the young lady who checked me out acted like she did not care at all/ or that it was something that happened a lot. I was very excited about staying here because the website makes it look like a high quality place with five-star service. I love bed and breakfast places because of the more personal vibe/better service you usually get, very disappointed with this place, won't be back.

Brides and travelers beware. Not as enchanting as the photos suggest. Don’t judge a book by its cover, the beautiful exterior is all facade. Last night my husband and I checked into Vizcaya Sacramento. From the outside it looked inviting. Upon checking in we learned the property is unmanned at night, not a big deal, we’ve experienced that before at other boutique hotels. We were given keys and and after-hours innkeeper phone number in the event of an emergency. The room was dirty. Broken windows covered with plexiglass hid behind curtains. Still, we’re there less than 16 hours essentially, so no big deal. Just, disappointing. Returning from dinner, we discovered a leak from the ceiling. We attempted to reach the after hours innkeeper—the number is not a working number. We tried every other phone number we could find, no answer. So we left and found another hotel, at a premium. This morning, still no response. We returned to the hotel to collect items left behind in our mad dash and tried to track down staff. It appeared the lone person on site was HIDING from us. He had gotten our messages and hadn’t even checked the room to see the damage. Now management is refusing to speak with us. We magically received a refund of the night’s stay, but would like to see compensation for the more expensive hotel and parking. And perhaps an apology for a truly terrible experience.

HORRIBLE Horrific!! I checked in to the place, see booking confirmation below. I signed the paperwork and was given a key. I was in the room for about 2 hours when the manager unlocked my door and tried to get in the room. I told them that I was in the room. An hour later the manager unlocks the door and comes in the room again. I said "you know someone is already in the room why would you unlock the door and try to let yourself in". He could have knocked and asked to check my booking information instead of just allowing himself in the room. I had to put on clothes because I was getting ready to take a shower! He said I didn't have a booking for this room, which is absolutely untrue, how else would I get a key. I told them regardless of the info you can not just let yourself into a room repeatedly without knocking first and allowing me to answer the door. I told him I was going to leave and he said "that's fine". Completely unprofessional.

Beautiful house, great stay I really enjoyed staying here. The house is lovely, the room was big, and the grounds are small but beautiful, with lots of flowers. It is a great neighborhood to stay in -- an easy walk to Safeway and not too far from restaurants and the capitol. The staff members were all friendly, and the breakfast was small but nice, in a lovely room. (I ate a lot of strawberry-chocolate chip muffins!) The only criticisms I have are that the carpet could be cleaner (especially under the beds, which are easy to see under), and we received only three sets of towels/washcloths for four people. Other things that you should be aware of: there is no elevator, and the bathroom door in our room did not have a lock. I would definitely stay again.
