Not worth the savings We booked a two night stay due to other teammates staying at this hotel, and a reasonable rate. We encountered a number of issues: The online images look much better than in person. Hotel definitely needs a remodel; carpets are old, paint is chipping, stains on ceiling tile, bathroom wasn't clean, furniture is worn, tv outdated. It appears that they have tried to spruce it up by painting the outside, but there is way more work to be done on the inside. We were not told when we checked in that heating/AC unit was controlled at the front desk. We didn't take notice of room temp upon arrival as it was very late at night we had just carried our items up a flight of stairs. We went to bed bed almost immediately and got very cold over night due to below 30F temps outside. We tried to turn heat on in the morning and the unit wouldn't come on. We had to ask the front desk and they said "Oh, we have to turn it on." There was a coating of snow and ice in the morning, so it should have been assumed we would need to use the heat in our room. There were no do not disturb signs provided to indicate we would prefer not to have housekeeping services; there was evidence that our room was entered while we were away. We came back from our tournament on Saturday and neither of our keys worked to get in the "D" entrance to the building or our room. Went to front desk and they stated, "Oh sorry about that." We had a two day stay booked, there was no reason our keys should have been deactivated. They are distributing maps of the property that state due to COVID only bagged breakfasts provided, when they actually serve a continental breakfast. There were a number of rooms where the doors were propped open by the inside safety latch. It was unusual, causing us to feel generally unsafe in the hallway spaces.

They dont make up your room! Disgusting! This hotel was awful. I would never refer this hotel to any friends or family. Dont get me wrong is a 2-start hotel meant for sports events, so I should have suspected. My room was never made up my entire time I was there. I was there for 4 nights. My towels piled up in my bathroom, trash piled up, slept in the same filthy sheets. I was disgusted. I even went to the front desk on 2 occasions to find out why and request that it be made up. One person said it just needs to be requested, so i did. Nothing. I went on the final day and asked again and they said they didnt haven requests from me. It was disgusting. Security was awful. Everyones key cards would get deactivated if it got anywhere your phone or any other magnet. Extremely prone to getting erased. So, this led to all the doors being propped open by trash or towels or whatever. Then anyone could get into the building whether they had a room or not. That in-turn leads to theft and any other crime you can think of. Staff was not very helpful. They rarely knew how to answer questions you asked. They complained about having to renew the keycards, but it was Comfort Inns fault they were so prone to erasure. Some positives: Cheap for a baseball tournament. 2 pools (one indoor, one outdoor), nice gathering area by the outdoor pool. Ice machines on every block, upstairs and downstairs. A lot of parking.

BIOHAZARD ALERT! DO NOT STAY! My family (2 adults and 5 kids) booked a room here that had 3 double beds, which was actually very accommodating. We came for a baseball tournament in Sandusky. That's where the good part of the review stops. I'm not going to complain about the noisy pool area, because kids are going to be kids and I'm just happy our kids got to swim for the night. As we were getting ready for bed I tried to turn on 2 of the lights, which did not work. One of the lights that did not work was right next to the bed in a nook area where mine and mom's bed was. We were not fans of where this room was placed as it was right across from the elevator and stairs. You'd think for paying for the biggest room in the hotel that is going to sleep 5+ people that they would put this in a lesser traffic area. Upon waking up, we opened the windows and noticed there was FRESH BLOOD on the duvet (remember the lights didn't work in this area of the room). I quickly started checking to see if I was bleeding. I was not, nor had I while I was sleeping. After realizing the small amount of blood, we moved more of the duvet to find multiple spots of fresh (not cleaned) blood. After this, we noticed that in the corner of that same area, there was blood all over the baseboards and the floor. I took pictures of all of this and headed down to the front desk. Arriving at the front desk around 6:30am, there were no employees who worked for the hotel who were staffed. I spoke with a kind lady who worked for Quality Inn who was only there because she knew the computer system. I could not stay as my kids had to be at their baseball game at 7:00am, at which time she said the employees would be showing up. I let her know of the situation and showed her the pictures. She was grossed out. I left my information with her and she said she would make sure someone contacted me as soon as they came in. Around 1:30 I received a call from Carmella, who I am assuming was the manager on duty that day. I spoke to her about the issue in the room and my utter disgust as we were clearly sleeping in beds that had not been cleaned and tainted with blood and fresh red blood (not a stained color, but still very red) all over the baseboards and floor. After all of this she offered me a whopping 20% off of my room. Now I am not one to complain about my hotels. I used to travel frequently for work and travel very frequently for my kids' sports. I stay in hotels monthly. This was the most disgusting thing I have ever dealt with. I couldn't help but laugh when that was her offer. She then LAUGHED at me through the phone when I said that was not acceptable. She then offered me 50% off the room. I still declined this offer. I asked her if she did not understand that there was a literal biohazard in my room with 5 kids roaming around in. She laughed. She then made sure I was not "accepting" the 50% off. I told her she was, in fact, correct that I would be declining that offer and I wished to speak to someone above her. She declined to give me anyone else's information. I asked her if I could email her the pictures so that she could understand why I was so upset about this. She annoyingly accepted that offer and provided me with an email address. I send this email within 15 minutes on May 12, 2024. It is May 16, 2024 and I have yet to be contacted regarding the situation. I plan on reaching out to their corporate office and letting them know that not only was the situation of an unclean room not acceptable, but also the way the manager handled the situation was completely unprofessional. The only good part of this stay were the waffles in the continental breakfast and the kind lady that checked me in. The rest was a disaster.

A TERRIBLE STAY AND DANGEROUS TOO! I have stayed at Comfort Inns before and this one was a huge disappointment. When we registered the staff told us the elevator was "over there" and did not help at all. This is a huge place and the halls are long and difficult to walk with no good signage. In the first room we could not get the key to work. The staff came to help us and there was a huge smell of smoke. They were even overwhelmed. When we asked them how they couldn't know and why housekeeping did not notify them they said they were probably smoking too. So we had to move again. The rooms were clean and attractive but in our three-day stay the housekeepers only came once. We had to call the front desk for more tp! The advertisements said a Tiki bar was available and when we asked the staff said they did not know why they got rid of it. There is no way a place this huge with several hundred rooms did not have a coffee shop or restaurant. But they didn't. The worst of all was when the fire alarm went off one of the three nights. People were milling around trying to figure out what to do. Not one staff member was around and several of us stayed in our cars after going out in the rain. We called the front desk and they said that the fire department needed to permit us to go back on. we asked how we would know and they replied that we could see people going back in. Can you imagine if this had been a real fire? The next day we were told that someone had pulled the alarm as a prank. But didn't the hotel have a protocol to use during an emergency???? This was very scary!!! We were there over the solar eclipse and expected prices to increase. But for all this aggravation it cost us almost 200 dollars a night. When we checked out a mistake was made on the billing that we had asked about and we needed to contact our banks. So a dangerous stay, long halls, no place to eat or drink anything, and no housekeeping at an expensive price. The staff did try to help and were friendly but short-staffed and overwhelmed. I never had such a terrible experience and will never go back.

Unsafe The front desk area was nice and clean the gentleman working was the kindest and most helpful man. We travel a lot with our sports teams, and I can say with certainty that man needs recognition and a raise. We get to our room, and as I walk past the room next to us, I see the door is not shut. Not latched like someone shut just enough to look shut. The next morning, I woke a 6 am, and the door was still open. We leave at 7:30 am and head to our event and return around 3-330 ish and the door is still open. I am a safety coordinator for a University in the Big 10, and this immediately raised red flags. I called the front desk, and I felt like I was bothering whoever was on call that night. I called and requested someone come and check the room and secure it. I have small children here and I'm now on high alert. Now, I'm inspecting the building. I notice there are no security cameras. I noticed the laundry area door was propped open with a towel. Then I noticed at each vending area anyone could hide behind the machines. The machines stood at least 2.5 feet from the wall. Not safe, not safe at all. The amount of partying that was happening until early morning, caused me only a few hours of sleep on Saturday night. And the smell of marijuana engulfed the hallway from the hours of 10 pm until still going strong at 6:30 am when we were heading to breakfast and checking out. Isn't this a non-smoking establishment? If you want to smoke a joint, go outside, and puff away, I'm ok with that! But at 4 am I was woken up by a fight in the room across that spilled into the hallway. I looked out the peephole and could hear a baby screaming, a lady in her pink pj's, a man, and a young boy pushing and screaming. I immediately called the front desk to say there was a fight in the hallway. The occupants' argument lasted about 3-5 minutes and then retreated into their room. I will never bring my family, my teams, my business travel, or a pet into a Comfort Inn establishment ever again. Especially the one located on Milan Road, Sandusky Ohio. The building is too big, too unmanaged, and unsafe. Corporate needs to do a big evaluation on this place.
