Best massage at an incredible resort. Wow what a dreamy place. Nestled in the trees of Santa Cruz with views of the ocean. Feels like a dream come true. Everything you want on a vacay. Everyone is so incredibly nice here. All of the staff is accommodating and helpful. A super must when staying here is getting a massage. The spa is lovely but the massage itself was the best part. Karen was my masseuse and she was everything I hoped for and more. She ironed out all the kinks in my neck and provided beautiful tranquil experience. I will definitely be back just to see her. Karen is one of the best I’ve ever had and Trust I’ve had a lot of massages. Heidi at the front desk was also so sweet and accommodating. Santa Cruz is a really special place and staying at the Chaminade makes it top-notch wonderful! I will for sure be back.

Meh Our room wasn’t available at Check-In (although we arrived at 9pm after a long drive), our A/C stopped working half way through our stay (called 3 times before someone showed up. Ended up with box fans for our last 2 days), housekeeping never showed up (although we called ahead for it in advance),  and we were granted late checkout until 1:30pm (went to breakfast and returned at 12pm discover our keys we already deactivated).   The phone in our room didn’t work well and would break up whenever we tried to use it to call the front desk. The buttons on the TV remote would stick and you had to push them very hard, several times for it to respond. The pool area was pure chaos. Kids were doing backflips and jumping into the pool no more than 4 feet deep. There were kids jumping into the hot tub and fighting over whether to turn the jets on or not. I witnessed several young kids left unattended and running around the pool. Never saw a pool team member outside of a guy passing out popsicles. Overall, not the greatest experience and extremely frustrating, especially when you have 2 small children under the age of 4.

Wonderful Facial After enjoying the pool, I got a facial with Mikayla, it was amazing. She is very knowledgeable and my face was glowing afterwards.

This is why there are mixed reviews Before you decide book a trip here, a few helpful tips and some insight from my recent visit: 1 - The reviews for Chaminade are mixed, and I think it could be because of the discrepancy in the guest rooms. Half of the rooms at the resort are updated, and the other half are not. The rooms in the 1000 building are updated. The rooms in the 200 and 300 buildings are not. I don’t know for sure, but judging by the smell, the pet-friendly rooms are in the 200 and 300 buildings? I booked a room with a patio forest view (not a “standard room”) and got a room in the 1000 building which was updated and clean. 2 - Parking is advertised as free on TripAdvisor, but it is not. It is $20, and there are not enough parking spots on the weekend. 3 - Despite being a resort in the forest, there is no shade at the pool unless you snag a chair with an umbrella. Pack sunscreen. 4 - There is WiFi, but it’s not secure. Be careful. 5 - The resort feels more like they cater more to small business conferences and weddings rather than hotel guests. The restaurant, lobby, and common areas are beautiful.
