This is why there are mixed reviews Before you decide book a trip here, a few helpful tips and some insight from my recent visit: 1 - The reviews for Chaminade are mixed, and I think it could be because of the discrepancy in the guest rooms. Half of the rooms at the resort are updated, and the other half are not. The rooms in the 1000 building are updated. The rooms in the 200 and 300 buildings are not. I don’t know for sure, but judging by the smell, the pet-friendly rooms are in the 200 and 300 buildings? I booked a room with a patio forest view (not a “standard room”) and got a room in the 1000 building which was updated and clean. 2 - Parking is advertised as free on TripAdvisor, but it is not. It is $20, and there are not enough parking spots on the weekend. 3 - Despite being a resort in the forest, there is no shade at the pool unless you snag a chair with an umbrella. Pack sunscreen. 4 - There is WiFi, but it’s not secure. Be careful. 5 - The resort feels more like they cater more to small business conferences and weddings rather than hotel guests. The restaurant, lobby, and common areas are beautiful.

Work on over all customer service, if management steps up their game, so will everyone else! The view from any room or location on this property is stunning, unfortunately, the service (especially with regard to dining and the actual rooms itself), left a lot to be desired! Our dinner on the first night was over an hour late, when we asked if we could order off the regular menu, we were told no, that it was part of the "group package rate" my boss had agreed to, however, it was not brought to her attention. Then it happened again the next day for lunch, again we could not order off the regular menu, the food arrived late, and some of us almost missed our spa treatment because of it! The worst part was when one of the members of our group ended up with a mice infestation in her room in middle of the night!!! Not only did NO ONE help her with her bags at 2 am while she waited 45min for another room to be cleaned at 2:45am, but NO ONE apologized, checked in on her to make sure everything was ok, and to make matters worse, the person in charge of our group, had ZERO clue as to what had happened the next morning when she came by our breakfast table to see how we were doing...How is that possible? Why is there so much disconnect amongst the staff? This resort has the potential to be AMAZING, however, until management steps in and actually does its job, there will be more reviews like this which is a total and utter shame! I will end this on a bit more positive note, the Synergy Ropes Course WAS AMAZING! Brian, Will, and Stephanie brought their A game and were so lovely, kind, informative, and helpful, never had a I ever thought I would be capable of doing what I did, so a HUGE thank you for whomever thought of bringing those lovely people on!

Canine Paradise Meets Coastal Chic – Best Stay in Santa Cruz! If you’re traveling with a pup, this place is unbeatable—easily the most dog-and-people-friendly property in Santa Cruz County. We love the hiking trails that start right on the grounds. Even better, the outdoor dining patio at The View welcomes four-legged guests, so no one is left behind at mealtime. Every staff member we met was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely happy to see both dogs and us humans who follow. Between the warm hospitality and all the pet-friendly perks, each stay here feels like a mini vacation for the whole family. Highly recommended!

Would return for pool/spa but probably won't stay over night The amenities at this hotel including the spa and pool are nice but the actual hotel rooms aren't very impressive. We spent a little more to get a junior suite, and other than the size it's nothing special. The lighting in the bathrooms are very dim, you only get small plastic cups which was odd.. even hotel chains give you an actual glass to drink out of. Hotel seems a little outdated, nowhere to get water/water refill stations. There's also no insulation between floors, first thing in the morning you could hear the person above us stomping around so loud it woke us up.
