Hotel From Hell This place is a dump and would do a lot to enhance Sarasota's good name if they went out of business. I had better accommodations in boot camp in the military. When we drove down the back road to the secluded (from the highway) parking lot. There were 6-7 loud young boys and girls smoking and carousing in the parking lot. That was a bad omen and a bit disconcerting to start the evening off. The check in process was begun with a round of indifference by the clerk and even less enthusiasm by her when I went back down to the desk, after getting into the room, to tell her the room has NO LAMP SHADES ON ANY OF THE LAMPS. She said they've been on-order from SLEEP INN Corporate. I said "Send somebody to Walmart 10 minutes down University Parkway and get us some lamp shades. She said they have to be approved by Corporate. I asked to see the manager....... no manager was available. I asked for a different room. She said none of the rooms have lamp shades as they are updating the hotel and all the lamp shades are back ordered. I gave up and went back to the room to sit in the dark or be blinded by the bright, naked lights bulbs. Definitely a safety code violation to have exposed, hot light bulbs. The elevator had missing numbers on the buttons so we weren't sure what floor we were selecting....... fire code violation?? Time for a shower..... I do remodeling and home maintenance. The shower door was the wrong style for the shower enclosure and could not possibly have sealed the water in the shower........... which resulted in stepping into a 1/4" of water flooding the bathroom floor. I mopped it up with the towels(rags) we could spare (because I'm just that kind of customer). The enclosure was beautiful; and the door was very fashionable, they just didn't fit together properly to seal. The complimentary breakfast was a joke. Some tiny sleazy pastries wrapped in plastic and the fruit was all gone. I don't know which tasted better, the plastic or the pastries. it was a joke. At check out, I asked for a partial refund as the room was so bad. The morning person said she wasn't "authorized" to make adjustments. I asked for the manager....... the manger wasn't in yet. What about the assistant or someone else I can talk to. There was no one else. I left me name and phone number and asked for a call when she got in....; No call back. I got the manager's business card and left her a few messages to call me back.... Never happened. There were other topics that I could elude to but you really don't need anymore information to make the right decision to avoid this business like the plague. To this day, 5 months later, we never did get our bill adjusted, never did get a call from any manager or any compensation/points for our pathetic experience in this "Hotel from Hell".

never again very unpleasant stay only positive of this hotel was the location. It is directly across from the Sarasota/bradenton airport. Room was in deplorable condition, lamps with no lampshades that we burned our hands on trying to turn on and off. upon arrival room was dirty with rotten chicken wings, cock roaches, and old nips of fireball whiskey. room as very small, and shower dangerous very slippery. Bed was hard as a rock. Roaches in bathroom on floor and by tv. very disappointed in this choice hotel. Will never go back. There are two other hotels on the same drive, I would suggest looking into them. People also had very loud noise barking dogs that were left unattended barking. They have a 40lb limit and we saw a full sized Great Dane being walked in the parking lot. housekeeping was non existent and the front desk said they only come if you stay 3 or more days. In addition the towels were like washcloth sized or hand towel terrible thin and rough.

Safety and Comfort Concerns at Sleep Inn, Sarasota FL During my recent stay at the Sleep Inn located off of 900 University Parkway, Sarasota, FL, I encountered several areas that could benefit from attention and improvement. Safety and Maintenance Concerns: 1) The HVAC vent in the front lobby was precariously hanging from the ceiling, presenting a potential safety hazard to guests and staff. 2) The elevator control panel appeared damaged, raising concerns about compliance with safety codes and vulnerability to tampering. Technology and Convenience Issues: 1) The hotel’s WiFi system failed to redirect to a login page for authentication, which is a significant inconvenience for guests relying on internet access for personal or business purposes. 2) In the guest room, the electrical fixtures exhibited signs of water damage, suggesting possible leaks that could lead to more severe electrical issues if not addressed promptly. Room Comfort: The room’s air-conditioning unit had a clogged condensation line, causing water to leak onto the floor during the defrost cycle. This not only poses a slipping hazard but also detracts from the overall comfort of the room. Recommendations for Improvement: To enhance the guest experience and ensure safety, I recommend the following: Immediate repair of the HVAC vent and elevator panel to eliminate safety risks. An upgrade to the Wi-Fi infrastructure to provide a seamless internet experience for guests. A thorough inspection of electrical fixtures in all rooms, with repairs or replacements as needed to prevent potential hazards. Regular maintenance of the air-conditioning units to prevent leakage and ensure a comfortable environment for guests. In conclusion, while the Sleep Inn boasts a convenient location, addressing these concerns would significantly improve the safety, functionality, and overall satisfaction of guests during their stay

It was awful.and horribly expensive. A horrible experience. The tv/remote did not work until I begged someone to come fix it. The sheets had not been changed. I had to do it myself. (I should have left then). There was no battery in the smoke detector. The security door did not latch or lock. They were open at all times.

Not at all Pleasant We booked because we could not find other accommodations for our group due to all the events that were going on that weekend. Check IN and coffee was good, the rest was down hill. Our room was supposed to be two queen beds and we were put in a room with full size beds, we were told the hotel was full and could not exchange rooms. My wife and I are large people and do not fit well on a full bed, and our daughter who is a large person was fine by herself. The room was so humid and hot it took till the next day to even cool down to a livable temperature. The TV remote was held by tape, there was mold on the lampshades, the shower has some kind of anti skid tape, which was still slippery, kudos for having the grab bars installed. The shower door let water leak on the floor, the door to the shower and toilet area was hard to slide open and the the exhaust fan did not work, the toilet paper holder was coming off the wall, and maintenance had the bright idea of using paper towels for caulking in the shower. We were left two towels for three people, but the bathroom was clean. The floors in the room were sticky and did not seem clean, or this may have been the cleaner they use. The breakfast was OK, they has varieties of muffins and granola bars and cereals and waffles, they also have juices. Just don't show up late in the morning everything is gone, nobody restocks it, not even the employees that come in to get breakfast for themselves. One night when we returned there was a large racoon in the trash dumpster and walked out in the road facing us because we interrupted his dinner I guess. We proceeded to try and park our vehicle and the he blocked the road, I assume people feed him because he is not scared of people. It does seem a vehicle rolling toward him seem to be the way to get him to leave, we told the front desk person about the incident, either she did not care or did not speak English, because all she did was shake her head. After that we named the racoon Jasper and said he was the head of security for the parking area, Jasper seems to like dining at about 10-11 PM so don't be shocked if you see him. If you need someone to talk to, the day staff seems to be the only ones that speak English or willing to talk you, not sure which. The rest of staff appear to just hate being there period and are not willing to speak. The pool and the deck, forget it is not available to swim much less sit and use the deck. I would have liked to have stayed in one of the rooms in the pictures, but that was not our case, a picture is worth a thousand words, the reality of was a whole different story. Maybe they are remodeling, it needs it badly, its an old and well used place and needs a complete remodel, at least the room we stayed in, the people in our group had similar issues with their stay and were also not happy. One the plus side, it's convenient to the airport, yeah that's about it.
