Must be desperate! On our travels back through IN on our way to Chi town we stopped at this Econolodge because they advertised newly renovated. The entrance was not very inviting and that also included the “breakfast room!” The clerk was an individual who did not present himself very well either in his dress and grooming or professionalism. We asked for one night and were given a choice of a king or 2 queens. We took the 2 beds and were directed to the bottom floor around the corner. There was strewn garbage laying all around the premise including the entrance to our outside room! The room had been hastily painted because the paint splatters were all over the toilet and floor the paint on the walls was run onto the other color on the facing wall! We were given 2 small bars of soap and a shampoo. The toilet area had one roll of toilet paper on the dispenser but no back up roll_ The towels were very used and old and need to be replaced and updated. The worse was this....the bed spread was all stained and dirty! I was really grossed out by that! I wanted to leave and try a different hotel. If it weren’t for the fact that it was later in the evening and tired from traveling a long distance from FL I would have checked out and ask for my money back! In the morning they only offered coffee and doughnuts sealed in cellophane because the Coronavirus scare had already started up. We were glad to get out of there!

Clean room, comfortable bed We now know why it's econo in Econo Lodge. No hair dryer, no clock, no coffee maker and virtually no wifi. On the plus the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Very good TV and cable package. Room was remodeled but the painter was even worse than I am.

Not Great Rate was cheap - less than $60 a night including tax, but this motel-style property (no inner hallways) is on the low end, even for Econolodge. My room was "one of the better ones that was recently renovated", according to the desk clerk. Internet service did not work, trash all over the property outside, blanket on the bed had cigarette burns (even though it was a non-smoking room), breakfast was some leftover, stale lukewarm coffee and packaged doughnuts. You get what you pay for, but everything about this place says "stay elsehere next time". Staff was helpful, and did come fix the TV promptly, but the owner is doing everything on the cheap, so the front desk guy is the only person working there at night and had to leave the desk a few times to go and take care of guests' room issues. Microwave and Fridge worked fine in the room - no iron in the room, and hair dryer was barely functional. Water pressure was poor, and tub was stained. Convenient to the Interstate, but I probably will stay elsewhere next time.

Seek Altrernative Lodging The room was clean enough. However, it smelled so badly of cigarette smoke. I could not get to sleep because all the bedding smelled of smoke! Even the bath towels smelled of cigarettes. There were many people outside their rooms smoking up a storm which all of that smoke was sucked right in through the AC unit. In addition, the AC was cooling but not removing the humidity. In the morning the bed was very damp, Our fresh clothing which we hung up was very damp, and even the newspaper on the desk was curled up with moisture. I did not feel safe there. Too bad we did not check the ratings first.

Better here than the only place in North Vernon This was an old facility but it was still better than the one in North Vernon.... avoid staying in that hole (North Vernon) at all costs. This place was okay to stay at on points. Make sure to take your pepper spray off you check in late. Folks around the are definitely sketchy! .... but then again most of the folks in Southern Indiana are.. not all of them... just most of them!
