Our only family place to stay! I am a researcher for good price and accommodations. By the reviews, I knew this was recently renovated. I could not be happier. This place is clean and well staffed. 2 Queen suite was HUGE with a pull out couch and perfect for me and 3 kids. The breakfast was clean and tidy and had a bit of everything. Love the coffee access all day option. Pool was clean and spacious and a great hang out while I worked and kids swam for hours. Staff is very kind. We travel this way from the UP for Red Wings games, concerts, etc a couple times a year. I will not look for another place to stay. Walmart is next door for an added bonus. You are in an area with no worries. I will be back.

Great service in a difficult situation! We booked a two-night stay at this hotel in late June when we were in the area for a family wedding. On the first morning shortly after breakfast, power went out in part of the hotel leaving our section without lights in the bathroom and no air-conditioning as well as no elevators for the whole hotel. (Other services like laundry and the breakfast room also were affected.) The hotel staff was most apologetic but said that it was a local power company issue rather than the hotel's responsibility. On a day when the temperature exceeded 90 degrees, our room quickly became very hot; so I bought a fan at a nearby store. That was the only thing that made the situation semi-tolerable; but it didn't help with no power in the bathroom. Upon checkout, I asked the desk agent what compensation we would get since we did not get what we fully expected to have in terms of services. She said that since it was a Sunday, I would have to contact the manager the next day. I already had had to pay, so I thought, "Good luck with that!" But when I contacted the manager by email the next day, she replied quickly and adjusted our bill. I was impressed with her speedy response and willingness to lower our bill for the second night. It's the kind of service that I've come to expect from Hampton Inns.

Never again Not told at booking reservation that major renovation was in progress. Lobby closed. Entrance was at back of building with no handicap parking and most of other parking was used by construction crew and large containers taking up 4-5 spaces each. Check in was at a makeshift table. One working elevator that was used by guests, work crew and employees - very dirty, broken missing floor tiles and "boarded up" Upon check in was told that AAA & AARP were not accepted , only Hilton Honors applicable- told I did not have enough points for any rate adjustment. Cost of rm. was $150 + taxes and other fees...this was for a Sun, Mon, Tues Wed stay...$785 total. Only floors available were 3&4 (1&2 under major construction) Requested rm as close as possible to elevator d/t elderly person (90 yrs) uses a walker. Placed in rm that could NOT be further away from elevator (401). No housekeeping entire stay. Breakfast: Attendant very unpleasant. Closed breakfast at 9:10 even though guests were told breakfast would stay open until 10 am due to very limited space because of construction. Breakfast area was extremely small & shabby with a capacity of about 10-12 persons. Attendant actually removed food pans as a guests were serving themselves- including fruit (apples, oranges) breads and locked small fridge with yogurt. She also unplugged toaster and waffle makers while they were in use! Attendant became verbally abusive with another guest when questioned about close time. Actually got into an argument with the guest. We would have checked out except we were in the area for a funeral and with a very elderly person it would have been very difficult to find other accommodations. We have been staying at Hamptons regularly since discovery of them in the 1980's - our 1st choice of hotels. In the last 5 yrs. we have noticed a decline in Hamptons across the board and they are no longer our choice for the future, especially after this experience.

Great experience I’d like to acknowledge Carol, for her amazing, humble spirit, and her true care for her customer satisfaction even if it was as small as utensils, thank you! Today I just wanted my bedding changed and do it myself, and they provided me with new bedding and new towels without any questions. Absolutely terrific service! so with this said, if you do stay here, I truly believe that you’ll enjoy it. The beds are soft the rooms are clean and the staff is beyond friendly.

Room Needs Comfortable Seating We arrived early to rest up and relax before an evening event and discovered there was no comfortable chair or loveseat as is typical in most hotel rooms, though with one king bed there was plenty of room for one or both. I called the front desk thinking maybe furniture had been removed and not replaced, and was told all of the rooms are like that. I don't think guests should have to sit in a bed in the daytime to read or watch TV. Also, the AC wouldn't stay on - Madison (who was great) came to check it out and the thermostat on the wall is apparently not hooked up to the wall unit, so it did work but has to be operated at the unit and she told us how to do it. The freezer in the fridge didn't work, and the pan underneath it was full of water that spilled all over when I opened it, not realizing this, to put our ice packs in (we were on the tail end of two weeks of travel so had a cooler with us); this was 4 pm and they were all still soft the next morning. The man at the front desk as we checked out early was very helpful in getting a pair of glasses we found in our backseat back to someone we'd given a ride to the evening before and didn't want to bother that early ourselves. Anyway, we book Hamptons because the brand seems to be consistent in terms of quality, amenities and maintenance.
