Great location for cruising Spent one night here after dropping off relatives on a midday cruise. Its about 5/10min walk max from the Ocean Cruise Terminal for P&O and abt 3/5min drive. We parked the car up, quite big car park although open to all so not sure about safety? cost us £7 booked via the hotel at reception opposed to the £14 is paying at the paypoint stands. Stayed in a Standard King room via booking.com and was pleasantly surprised. Its not your elite hotel but was decent enough and comfortable, plenty roomy and huge king bed (seemed like superking tbh) pillows were a bit rubbish but I al fussy. Good TV and tea/coffee/water provided. Was also a mini fridge there too. Huge wardrobe storage if needed. Bathroom was a little rough in parts but everything worked and shower was lovely and warm and two shower heads (over bath) made plenty of pressure. Basic handwash (was empty) and showergel and lotions no shampoos provided. Bottle dispensers read White Company but clearly not and just filled up. Did use the pool & Jacuzzi. Didnt use the gym, sauna or steam but all were free for guests. Pool is in need of desperate upgrades but was okay for what it was - high chlorine levels tho so take care. Could feel it on skin and see the debris in jacuzzi (which was excessively hot) some seats around pool to sit. We went at end of night 7-8pm so was quiet, kids can use pool in afternoons so i imagine v busy then. Breakfast was lovely, clean fresh plenty of choice for everyone. Had room service of one pizza and two cokes can to £34 but we knew it was going to be expensive we were just too tired to go back out and didnt want full meal. Town was about 5/10min stroll seemed to be lots of places to eat and usual shops etc. Do try The Pig in the wall directly opposite in the roundabout - v nice food/cakes drinks (also licensed bar) was v nice especially sitting outside on sunny afternoon. All in all would stay again wasn’t worth the £175 for one night but suited our needs.

Lacking in quality for pricing Was reached out to by hotel before stay about adding a special touch to our room as it’s our honeymoon. Agreed, and scheduled however upon arrival the add on was not present instead we had to wait outside of the room for 30 minutes. While hotel has on-site food, they serve shell fish so we ordered something from outside to be safe as I’m highly allergic. No biggie, they have plenty of places outside not within the restaurant area that we could sit, order a drink from the bar and eat. Instead, we ordered our drinks, went outside to a table and sat down. Then we’re told we can’t eat outside but rather in the lobby. What sense does this make? Why not say something before telling us to go on outside and for us to sit? For a suite it’s quite a joke as well, mini fridge just sitting on floor in suite, like it’s a piece or furniture. All around, for the price, the ambiance, sure is lacking in service.

Disappointing Stay at Leonardo Royal Hotel, Southampton – Not Worth the £300 Price Tag We stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Southampton recently, the night before our cruise, and while the location is undeniably excellent—central, convenient, and with great access to the waterfront—that’s unfortunately where the positives end. For nearly £300 a night, I expected cleanliness, comfort, and basic functionality. What I got was stained carpet in the main room (see attached photo) with marks that looked disturbingly like feces or perhaps a spilled chocolate shake that was not cleaned up. The bathroom was even worse—aged, unsanitary in places, and the toilet wouldn’t flush at 4:35am, which is absolutely unacceptable at this price point. The chrome fixtures were corroded and dirty, and there was damage and grime around the pipes near the towel warmer. Everything just felt neglected. Check-in was fine; the staff were polite, breakfast was offered (pay £30 extra for a buffet! Ha! Which, based on the state of the room, I did not trust would be worth the cost or the risk. This hotel may have once been "royal," but it’s far from it now. For the price, it desperately needs updating, deep cleaning, and a serious rethink of what qualifies as 4-star accommodation. I will not be staying here again.

RATS Although clean inside the hotel is a little dated. The spa is okay but the jacuzzi does not work and there is no steam or sauna which you would expect in a hotel of this rating. RATS outside on the terrace, we saw 4 in 10 minutes and other gusts were complaining. Actually a big concern from a hygiene perspective and kids were outside. Nobody sat outside for long was disgusting. The hotel said the council are t doing anything and were not concerned. The hotel needs to get some pest control pretty quickly YUK! Really put us off.
