Front desk needs training and care I’ve stayed here often and been at IHG hotels all over the world. This hotel suffers from the activity of the front desk. Their front desk rep was so incredibly unhelpful that I won’t be back! They have no management on call or available for processing. The place is also in need of renovation

Views and Location Location: If you need to be in downtown St. Paul for some reason (wedding, convention, conference), this location is walkable to several nice restaurants and the XCel energy center / museums. The street in front of the hotel is reasonably busy and feels safe enough. Downtown St. Paul overall is a bit of a ghost town and can feel a little creepy; it's hard to imagine people coming as a simple tourist without the draw of a wedding, convention, conference, or sports event. Hotel: Nice modern lobby. Feels busy even at night due to the valets and the front desk is staffed. One elevator is currently down for renovations but the other two move fast and it did not significantly negatively impact my stay. Wifi was annoying and spotty, but it did eventually work fine and I was able to stream Netflix. Nice coffee bar in the hotel. Service: Excellent service. Friendly front desk. Texts about how my stay was going were helpful. Room: Probably the most major fixable negatives. Rooms are worn with mildly cracked paint and faded curtains. Windows could use a bit of cleaning. Overall the rooms were clean and serviceable, but definitely could use an upgrade. Bathrooms are modern. The open shower concept is not my preference, but if you aim the shower head towards the drain, it does not flood the bathroom. Views are exceptional for the area. Overall: For the location, this hotel is reasonably priced and ensures a comfortable stay with beautiful views. Rooms could use an upgrade and modernization.

short on personnel ? The hotel is not living up to the high rating. Acceptable at levels of 3.5 to 4 stars. The room housekeeping service was spotty; they did not replenish coffee supplies, for example. The restaurant service is slow; food is average at best. On the good side: the view from my room over the river was amazing.

Amazing Staff, But That's All TL/DR: Do not stay here, it's old, overpriced, out of the way, and all you will get is excuses. First note: The front desk and restaurant staff are amazing. Amazing. Best people and work hard. Get the burger at the restaurant. The smoothies at the deli are amazing. The pastries are so, so good. Our housekeeper did the best she could with what she had. Now comes the big but: This hotel facility is a disaster. It there is a conference, expect a wait of 30 minutes for an elevator. The sign in the entrance supposedly says they will help "navigate" you, but it doesn't say that there is a service elevator that they can use - if they want to. The stairs are narrow and steep, and if you are on a high level as we were, it's not great to use them. I question just how safe the higher floors are with the one elevator out of service and a limit of six people per elevator. The HVAC system is not working well. Fire alarms go off from steam and heat in bathroom go off constantly. We needed our tub drain snaked - took two days. Our shower rod fell off the wall, and was not repaired. We stayed for 6 nights for a conference and had to constantly go to the front desk to request help. The room stayed at high humidity and never dried. Our clothes were damp by the end. We asked for and never did get help moving air throughout the room. In speaking with a manager, we got "the city makes us do this, the age of the building causes that, this charge is automated, etc, etc." Excuse after excuse. After staying the whole week, she did offer to move us to a new room for our last night, but it wasn't worth the pain for us. For the price, this hotel is not worth the stay. She did comp one night, which we are thankful for, but I can truthfully say the Hampton down the street is the same price plus a free breakfast and no maintenance issues. Also, be aware when they say "a short walk away", they mean 10-15 minutes. The best parts of downtown are no where close. Don't stay here. It's not worth it.

A great place to stay!! The accommodations were top rated and very classy! The staff members were all exceptionally friendly, courteous and accommodating. Jennifer Anderson is one of the kindest, most helpful, efficient and supportive directors I’ve ever experienced. My entire stay was so enjoyable and comfortable. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay!!
