Convenient, affordable accommodations We have stayed here multiple times. It’s not fancy, but solid. The staff is very friendly & helpful. Rooms are clean & comfortable. It’s within walking range to MBU (daughter’s graduation) and W Beverley St. which has many wonderful shops and eateries. We especially enjoyed Blu Point Seafood, Shenandoah Pizza, and ASC’s Blackfriars Playhouse.

Dirty, non-ADA compliant Reserved 3 rooms, 2 of which were to be handicapped for a halfway stop on our trip from NY to Tennessee. We got in at 9pm to be told our 3 rooms were on the 3rd floor and that their only elevator was out of service. After back and forth on the phone between the poor front desk clerk and owner/manager who was not willing to find a solution other than us giving up one of our 2 bed rooms for a king room on the 1st floor. With the amount of people in our party loosing a bed would not work. So after getting firm about the owner/manager coming to speak with us, we had to threaten contacting the ADA for non compliance. Now, they comped us the 1st floor king room. All well and good, but the rooms were less than appealing. Live and dead bugs under furniture, prior guest toothpaste spit in the sink, and towels looked dirty. Breakfast consisted of bagels, a few muffins, bread, cereal, frozen butter, watered down juice and coffee. Definitely not the continental breakfast their advertisement implied. The one plus was the king bed in room 129 was very comfortable. Would not recommend. Too tired to take photos.

Filthy. Do not stay here. First night, had to switch rooms because ours was filthy (pics attached). There was mold in the fridge, the trash hadn’t been taken out, the carpet had not been vacuumed, the shower drain was clogged and the LOCK WAS BROKEN. When I asked to switch rooms, the employee was extremely unpleasant. The room they switched us into not only had a clogged toilet, but fecal matter inside the toilet. If that wasn’t enough, there were blood stains on the towels. I’m supposed to be staying four nights. Too bad it’s too late in the night to find another hotel, but I will be finding other accommodations and demanding my money refunded for the night I unfortunately am having to stay in this filthy hotel. Funnily enough, I stayed here once before when I visited last year, and had to spend the entire weekend in the room as I became violently ill. I thought it was something I ate, now I’m thinking it’s the lax hygiene.

Honestly, Just Mediocre Most things about this place are essentially mediocre. The front desk staff are not “most things” - they were extremely helpful anytime I needed anything. Otherwise - the room was ok, clean enough. Towels were ok, a bit scratchy, but rare is the hotel these days where I think the towels are good. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough. There’s no vent in the bathroom, which kind of sucks when you’re taking a warm shower. The WiFi was pretty decent here (better than some places). My tv kind of sucked for image clarity, it was permanently not sharp of an image when I was watching. Some people say the neighborhood is a bit shady but I wasn’t really feeling that. I did notice that there seemed to be quite a few long-term residents here, but I had no issues with any other guests/activities/pets here (there were some well-behaved doggos). If you’re expecting five-star accommodations, high class and luxury to the nines, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for somewhere clean to rest your head, you could do a lot worse than here.
