Expensive on the Cheap The lodge has a long history with our family. We have spent many Christmas's there and enjoyed it and the area for many years. After it was sold to Destination Hotels it was remodeled, and at the time I was surprised that they would take away the local flavor of the decor to install a bland and industrial look to this beautiful lodge. In my opinion it is now just an over priced place to lay your head, and does not carry the same ambience and feel that it did prior to the sale. The prices in the dining room don't reflect the quality of the food and drink. I don't mind paying for good food and drink, but honestly, I could have eaten at the Big River Grill down the street and probably would have enjoyed it much more and paid far less.

Not worth a portion of the cost Drab and outdated rooms, very uncomfortable beds and pillows, very overpriced. Terrible food, very loud, barking dogs

Beautiful grounds but skip the breakfasts The location and grounds are very special - incredible views and the back patio area with the lawn are the epitome of summer fun. The dining options are good for dinner - but breakfast and especially Sunday brunch are lacking. Best to go into a neighboring town - inconvenient but the brunch in particular is absolutely not worth it. Limited options if you aren't eating the buffet. And the $35 buffet is disappointing.

Glamping tent unsafe and unsanitary We love Skamania and have stayed many times over the years. But this visit, someone left glass shards in our bathroom and my daughter stepped on one when getting into the bath. The puncture bled a lot at first and was scary for all of us. I don’t understand how the staff cleared our room for check-in, nor how someone on staff would replace a broken drinking glass (none of our glasses were missing) but fail to clean up the dangerous shards, especially in a space where people will have bare feet. It took the front desk more than 20 minutes to respond to my text about this issue (the glamping tents have no phones, so I was told to text), and hours to resolve it. In addition to serious safety issues, cleanliness was a problem. When we arrived, we had to clean squirrel poo off both beds, as well as all over the coffee station. We asked for fresh bedding and skipped using the coffee station or any of the counters for our visit. But because of these two issues, we weren’t able to do anything our first day of our stay but wait on the deck while various cleaning and bedding crews came out to do the things that should’ve been done well before our stay—remove glass, provide sanitary bedding, and assure a clean space. Moreover, our daughter was relegated to a chair to stay off her injured foot. Skamania never offered to move us to a clean, safe room to avoid this further inconvenience to us. The manager was focused on filing the incident report rather than addressing losing our trust or trying to right a wrong. He offered us a free meal just before leaving, but we didn’t feel that our scary, upsetting experience actually mattered to him, except from a legal perspective. We made the most of our stay but are sad about how we were treated this visit, especially given the dangerous incident with the glass shards.
