Tired The Belfry hotel is located at the Belfry golf course where the Ryder cup has been held 4 times, last one in 2002. 2002 is also the time when they stopped improving this hotel, probably. In this room there was no airconditioning, which I would have needed since temperatures, that week I stayed there, were above 27 degrees Celcius. I don't like airco in my room, but it would have been very nice to have it to cool the room during the day so that your sleep starts fresh. Now you could only open the small windows just 10 cm as it was attached with a cord (suicide prevention?), resulting in bad sleep quality. There was airco in the hotel though. For our group we used a banket room where the temperature felt like 15 degrees. The shower could not produce hot water. There is no lid on the toilet. The bar is bloody expensive, it even charges service charges although you were picking up the drinks from the bar.... The hotel looks nice from the outside, its entrance is ok as well, but staying here is not recommended.

Very disappointed. Not a luxury experience. We were excited to take advantage of a DBB deal for 1 night but were disappointed with what we got. The room had no air conditioning, and the window could only open a crack. The dyson fan was stuck in the corner and could not be moved closer to the bed. As a result, the room was too warm and airless for a comfortable night sleep. The spa was very busy, and the facilities are too small to cope with the amount of guests. I had to wait 15 mins before a locker could be made available, and there were many broken lockers that could not be used. The sauna only takes 4 people at a time, which for a hotel with 319 bedrooms is not really good enough, and they are planning on building more rooms, so this can only get worse in future. The swimsuit dryer was broken in the ladies changing room and there is no heated towel rail in my room so I was unable to dry my swimsuit to use for the next day, which meant we had a lot less spa time than we were hoping for. The evening meal was the biggest disappointment. The price of the a la carte menu meant that even with our dining voucher for staying at the hotel, it would have cost us an extra £100 to eat in what was a packed restaurant with the ambience of a cafeteria. If we are spending Michelin prices, we do not want to be packed into a restaurant with plastic table mats and sticky tables. We chose the buffet instead which was included with our DBB rate. which, being a Sunday, consisted of a salad bar, roast dinner, and dessert selection. It looked very nice. The roast dinner has to be the most inedible meal I have ever had at a carvery. The beef had a weird texture that you couldnt cut, and was chewy and tasted of liver. The Yorkshire puddings were dry and tasted off even though they were fresh from the kitchen. The roast potatoes were dry and leathery and pale yellow-green, the parsnips were powdery, and the cauliflower cheese had disintegrated into a porridge-like mush. The salad and desserts were varied and enjoyable, but that main meal spoiled the evening for us. Breakfast was what you would normally expect for a hotel buffet, but I was extremely disappointed that they had no fresh decaffeinated coffee (only Nescafe instant - yuck) available, they also had no decaffeinated tea which would have been my second choice. The previous evening I ordered a decaf liqueur coffee and they put caffeinated coffee beans on the top for decoration. So be careful, they are not very good at protecting people with allergies and do not cater for those who do not drink caffeine.
