Family getaway I just returned from a 6 night stay at Sailport Waterfront Suites in Tampa. There were many great things about the resort but also things worth noting that could be improved upon. Wonderful things include the location (beautiful views of the bay and sunset), great pool and restaurant, friendly staff and nice beach area. Things to improve upon are the basic essentials in the unit are lacking. We wanted to cook while there but there were no oven pans, oven mitts or pizza cutter. We had to go out and purchase those. Dish soap would have been nice. No broom in the unit to sweep up the floor. My son wanted to play volleyball on the beach (there’s a net and balls to check out) but the front desk said they didn’t have balls for 8 months because people didn’t return them. He was disappointed he couldn’t play. The beds were not comfortable at all and the sleeper sofa bed was horrible! It definitely needs to be replaced! Water pressure was low in the shower (that’s understandable with such a large resort), paint chipped in the tub and toilet handle was so loose I thought it was going to fall off. The toilet paper provided was terrible. These are all simple fixes that could go a long way!

Room needs much TLC in otherwise enjoyable stay We enjoyed our stay, especially having breakfast by the pool, and the bonfire on the beach at sunset. The biggest issue was the need to refresh (repair) the room: #408. The attached photos show peeling finish on the tub and cracked (gross) tiles in the bathroom and also scuffed, worn chairs in living room.

You can do better. Keep looking A tired motel (it's NOT a resort), it does have great views of Old Tampa Bay and great sunset views. That said, we won't be back. First, the tight parking is horrendous for larger vehicles or pickups. Secondly, the blackbirds run this place. They start squawking at sunrise and try to take over the pool. Watch your fries as they dive bomb your meal. They're even in the pool! Thirdly, the pool is small for a motel this size. Get down there early to get a chaise as the privileged and Karen's will grab 'em first. There is a poolside bar estaurant which is handy. Small beach area but rip rap shoreline. The beach towels they supply are more like hand towels. Might want to bring your own. Our unit was privately owned and managed by a company. Check-in was flawless. The "suites" are small. Ours was relatively updated and nicely stocked. Seating furniture was limited to a single jackknife sofa. Bed was comfy. Balcony a plus. This was pricey for what we got. Could have hit a Marriot for less. Lesson learned...
