Nasty Front Desk Agent/Manager I stayed here a few weeks ago using my choice employee discount because I was in need of an immediate place to stay. I called ahead and asked if there were any rooms available for immediate check-in, the lady on the phone told me there would be one ready in about two hours. PERFECT. So I arrive at the property, I enter the lobby in the lady at the desk is on the phone with somebody. She was using profanity, disrespectful language, and an overall rude tone. At first, I was surprised that an employee with lost with such an attitude, but then she said “ yeah, I’m the manager”. And I was floored. Anyways, I get the keys to my room very quickly and enter to find stained sheets and a little trash in the drawers. I’m not one to complain when I can fix the problem myself, so I just threw away the trash and didn’t use the sheet. At one point during my stay, I had run out of soap/shampoo and went back to the front desk to ask for more. I understand that hotels may only offer limited amenities, including toiletries. Right away, the way she worded her response was rude. She said, “ you can buy your own shampoo if you want”. This was not after some dialogue, this was her immediate response to me asking if they had any more. There were many times she shocked me with her attitude and overall unprofessionalism. The walls are not too thin, actually, I was decently surprised. However the overall condition of the room and my interactions with the management have caused me to score this place much lower.

Manager named Rita, stole $400 from us Do NOT book a room at this hotel. I used a travel site to book 2 rooms for 3 nights at this hotel. I prepaid both rooms, there is a guarantee the hotel will hold the room until 7 am the morning AFTER your scheduled arrival date. Rita, canceled our room at 1:37pm on our arrival date. Check in is at 3pm, why did she cancel BEFORE we were supposed to arrive? Because she's a shiesty thief, that's why. She did not notify us of the cancelation until we arrived at midnight, with 4 kids in our car and no where else to go. She even slammed the door in my face when i held up a copy of my receipt showing i pre-paid the room. We were forced to scramble in the middle of the night to try to find another hotel. I then called the travel site to file a complaint. They tried to facilitate a refund from Rita at Rodeway, where Rita initially said she would refund us within 5 business days. No refund within said time. I called again, only this time was told Rita is refusing to refund us, claiming we did not arrive on time. I had to file a claim with my bank to dispute the charges since this woman is a thief and a liar. Buyer Beware - make sure you read the reviews others have left for this hotel. Absolutely atrocious....

Brothel and drug haven Regardless of pot being legal in AZ, the stench and “clientele” didn’t seem like they possessed cards, and the entire complex reeked of it, in and outside the rooms. As we parked we watched what one could only presume is a John finishing with a girl, with a tear drop tattoo on her left eye. Our room, that we promptly vacated was filthy, nothing worked, odd stains on the lamp, and what has to be blood splatter on the ceiling.... And with the most unprofessional Jabba the Hut for a property manager or owner, with a place that sleezy, if they’re allowing tenants like that (who seem like they live there, and not “passing through”) then they must be getting kickbacks and allowing illegal crap like that to happen. It was the cheapest in the area, but we spent the extra $20/night and stayed at the Motel 6 by fashion square, which was immaculate and comfortable. Money well spent. If you’re not looking to have your vehicle vandalized, score crack, get HPV, or be woken up by blue lights flashing, I would stay elsewhere.

Absolutely worst experience ever! We booked our room at least a month prior to our arrival. Our plane landed and we arrived at the Rodeway Tempe near AZ State after midnight. The office was closed and the sign said to call. I called and spoke to Freda. She said that they have no vacancy and the office is closed. I told her twice that I had a reservation and she insisted that there were no vacancies. I was told to leave. Walking back to our car I saw another couple was calling her now so we decided to wait around. A woman who had clearly been sleeping (major bed head) came and unlocked the office. She checked in the other guests and so I decided to speak with her in person. My husband and I were told there are no rooms and again we told her that we had a confirmed reservation through Choice. She told us to that the room that choice booked for us was a room with three double beds. I thought that was odd when we booked the room but whatever. We needed two beds, but three would have been fine. She told us that we never had a reservation because a room with three beds does not exist. I asked her why this wasn’t straightened out at the time of booking and she told us to leave. She told me she tried to call us but I had no record of a call from her. She threatened to call the police. She yelled at us to leave her office. We ended up calling Choice hotels and ended up talking with them for an hour and a half. During this phone call we were told they would put us in a different hotel for the night by giving us points to use for it. We found some hotels that were close by but we were told those choices would have been too many points. They wanted to find a comparable hotel to the Rodeway. After picking three different nearby hotels and waiting on hold while the choice employee called them to check availability we were told there was finally a nearby hotel that had just one king sized bed. We have 4 adults and they wouldn’t let us have 4 people in a room with one king bed and they wouldn’t give us two rooms. By this point it was after 2:30am and we just wanted two beds, but choice would not make the situation right for us. We decided to call a hotel further north in Camp Verde and they had vacancies. We told the lady from Choice and she spoke to them and gave us the points needed to stay there. They let us check in early (we arrived at 4:00am) for feb 29th so we actually slept there twice. Long story short, the Camp Verde staff was excellent and we are so thankful that they let us check in early and gave us a place to stay, but Freda at the Rodeway in Tempe should be fired and Choice should not allow that hotel to be part of Choice. Also Choice could have made the situation right by giving us two rooms at the nearby hotel in order to get us two beds. Instead we had to drive over an hour north to Camp Verde and got to bed after 4am! After reading the reviews about Freda’s Rodeway it’s probably a blessing that we didn’t stay there, but the whole situation was a very frustrating way to start our vacation!

"UNBELIEVABLE"..._ You know, my father wants to talk to me. There's a word. That can describe anything you're talking about whether it be bad or good. And that's the title. Of this review. I'm in a hotel 365 days a year. This is without a doubt the worst I've ever seen. This hotel happens to be the Rodeway Inn actually near the State University in Tempe, Arizona. 2101 East Apache Boulevard 85281 would be the zip. First I'm going to tell you anytime you see Hotel ratings and excellent equals terrible and everything in between is real low. Tells you that the terrible is what it really is and people working there or their friends and family are calling him the excellent ones. Cuz I'm here to tell you I have never in my life been attacked like I got attacked today. I show up 12:30. Lady sitting on the front porch smoking a cigarette. Started right in with Sir, what are you doing here? I said, excuse me. I have a reservation here. But you're not to be on our property until 3. Is our check-in time. I said ma'am. I have a reservation. I'll I'll stand right here and wait till 3 is fine if that's what you want me to do. She really says. It's our policy. You cannot be on this property until 3. I said Ma'am. Why are you yelling at me? If you're not going to get off our property, I'm calling the police. I said we'll call the policeman. I have a reservation here. I have work to do here in this town tonight. That's fine. I'll wait till 3. But you can throw me off the property tell Me the time breaking the law. I said can you show me this policy? It's all over the property. I said no ma'am. I want to see the written policy that says if I have a reservation that I can not come on this property and that I'm breaking the law. I said, you know what nevermind I'm going to walk out here on the sidewalk off of your property, and I'm calling Choice Hotels to report this incident She said I don't give a damn what you do. I'll cancel your reservation. I said for what? For asking you a question. I said man, they have given some of you people too much power with his checking 3 crap. Because I have early check-in privileges as a diamond member. I sure don't have privileges to be talked to like you're talkin to me. And I will call choice and I hope you get reported and fired. Primarily this hotel needs to be taking the choice name away because you are given a choice a bad bad rap. So I called twice. They filed a report. Gave me 5000 points. Put me in a hotel. Down the street another Choice Hotel who checked me in right away saying you're sorry. You have early check-in privileges. Thank you for being a diamond member. That is the story of all stories folks. I hope everyone in this world boycotts Rodeway Inn in Tempe, Arizona. Off of East Apache Boulevard, 2101 is the address..
