Perfect Hotel For Any Type Of Stay I love this hotel!!! I have stayed a couple of times and it was really consistent.
The staff are all super friendly and welcoming and it is the little touches like remembering what wine you ordered and that you had stayed before.
The hotel rooms are very modern and comfortable. Excellent standard of cleanliness.
The restaurant has a nice menu and the food is great quality and reasonably priced. The breakfast is worth a special mention with the scrambled eggs being my particular highlight!
The bar is nice and has a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails all reasonably priced.
Worth noting there is no carpark but there is a public car park behind the hotel and there is also no lift in the hotel but I was offered help with my luggage.
A really good hotel, centrally located and excellent value for money.

Not customer friendly Snooty Fox seems unable to honour Virgin Experience vouchers at the gifted value. On enquiry, no dates could be provided when rooms could be booked at the voucher value, even though the website showed basic rooms as free for multiple dates.
Any enquiries for specific dates resulted in the response that a booking could be made but for an upgraded room at an additional £60! All enquiries are pushed through email with brief responses (requesting more money!) resulting in emails going back and forth for days on end. Calls and voicemails are not picked up, although bizarrely one of my calls was answered claiming that I had called the hotel next door - I hadn't - and giving me the email address for reservations. In the end, I exchanged my voucher for another hotel, which was very responsive, and booked quickly with excellent customer service.

Disappointed My son and I were in room 10, it was a lovely room, but it was stifling hot. We tried to open the window and this was mission impossible. We advised the lad downstairs, in the bar, about this , he took our key and attempted to rectify the issue.
He came back and advised he would have to contact maintenance.
Maintenance was away home , and when we retired to bed, the room was still roasting hot.
We attempted to get the window open but to no avail.
So a very uncomfortable night was spent in this room.
The next day, when trying to have a shower it was either cool or burning . So I settled for cool which on the face of it was rather nice after sweating all night.
The evening meal which we had was lovely and the local beer was excellent. No complaints about this. The waiter was very friendly and a bit of a joker which was nice.
The next morning, we came down for breakfast to be met by the shift manager, who had obviously just had a cigarette. She advised that we couldn't get hot food until 8.00am as the chef was not in yet. But by all means have the continental breakfast. This was lovely and came with a big pot of coffee. Can I point out that it said on the email received the day before arrival, that breakfast was served from 7.30am.
Breakfast order was taken and 2 full English, and eggs benedict were ordered.
The cooked breakfast was very disappointing. The egg was undercooked, sausage was a bit overcooked and the black pudding was like a bit like a frisby. Our friend Dr Barrie
was rather disappointed that there was no ham on his eggs benedict.
As I had previously been a head chef in charge of several kitchens, the cooked breakfast was not up to an acceptable standard.
We spent £239 for the stay, Dr Barrie £179 and £204 for our evening meal, so a sizeable amount. And we were very disappointed that breakfast was not up the standard .
We spent £239 for the stay, Dr Barrie £179 and £204 for our evening meal, so a sizeable amount. And we were very disappointed that breakfast was not up to standard and despite reporting straight away about our overheated room, neither issue was resolved.
All in all a rather disappointing stay, as this was a special treat as we were attending the Royal International Air Tattoo for my sons birthday.

Very disappointing We were staying at the Close Hotel and had eaten there the previous two nights. So we thought we would have a change venue for dinner on our third night. We wish we hadn’t as the meal was very disappointing. A vey small portion of Hake done in a far too spicy sauce. We left most of it, paid up and went back the Close for cheese and biscuits. May I add the staff were very friendly and we had no complaints with them and that is why I still paid the Gratuity.

Great location Great location in the centre of town. Staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Spacious clean room.
Good quality breakfast and lovely restaurant and bar areas.
Local car park behind hotel.
Stayed to attend a music event at the arboretum and a local cab company provided a shuttle minibus service £5 each way.
