The Drake any Day or Night This is our 3rd time staying here. Special treat forsure. The concert package was amazing as well since we often stay when there's an event. Wednesday we went to catch Hippie Honky Tonk at another local spot then stayed. Late checkout was great plus the breakfast was amazing

Excellent and personal service I stayed at the Drake for the night before my wedding in Toronto, and then with my husband the night of the wedding. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially Victoria, who really went out of her way to make the stay special for us. Very comfy room, great room service, and an all-round great experience!

Overall excellent Very clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were all friendly. However, the "complimentary" coffee which I was told about by the lady who registered me, did not materialize as apparently my room was not eligible. I learned this when I entered the cafe and attempted to get a coffee in the morning.

Do not recommend - zero rating if I could If I could have given a zero rating, I would have. When I was dropped off at the hotel from the airport, I thought the driver left me at a night club. It was a terrible area and the club music and atmosphere were very, very evident. When I finally found the check in desk, I was appalled to find out I had to go BACK OUTSIDE to get to my room. Added to that, I was on the THIRD FLOOR AND THERE WERE NO ELEVATORS. The hallways reminded me of The Shining. I was given a card telling me to text any requests I had. I texted my request for ice (because the room was extremely hot and stuffy) and I never got a reply. I would NOT suggest this hotel to anyone.

Five Perfect Nights at The Drake Hotel in Toronto, Canada I had the nicest 5-day solo stay at The Drake Hotel in Toronto. I drove from New York City and, as a woman traveling alone, I need to stay at a place that is safe and where the staff is available to give me the lowdown on everything from parking my car to scenic walks, restaurants (Taverne Bernhardts on Dovercourt Road was perfect), and where to get a slice of pizza (Pizzeria Badiali on Dovercourt Road). The staff at The Drake is fabulous. Victoria at the Front Desk is a perfectionist, assisting me with multiple cabs and, on my last night in the city, suggesting Prequel, The Apothecary Speakeasy, as the perfect place to say goodbye to Toronto. There is a small bar to the side of the Lobby, run by Jeremy, a man of many talents (a sommelier and expert in Italian wines, as well as in the history of Toronto). Don't miss an opportunity to sit with him and people-watch at the end of the day. The Cafe on the street patio is staffed with more charming people, each of them telling me something different about the neighborhood and its history, and on my last morning, they steered me toward a great little shop down the street for last-minute gifts called (Helen + Hildegard, ask for Sonya). The Drake is sandwiched between Little Italy, Little Tibet and Little Portugal, the neighborhoods chock full of charming restaurants and shops, and situated close enough to the lake that the beautiful Trillium Park is within walking distance. Go there for great views of downtown Toronto, multiple photo ops, and just a leisurely afternoon watching the small planes take off and land at Billy Bishop City Airport in the Bay. Now, a bit about my room. The Drake has a new modern wing and a renovated heritage wing, where I stayed in a room called a 'crash pad.' I was expecting a smallish room, but it was a large open room filled with light and beautifully appointed, sort of my own private rail car, with a touch of vintage but modern appointments inside. The shower was a bit small, but I didn't care. The Drake is a hip place for nightlife and is popular with the locals. I had only one small complaint: I did not know I would be staying at the Drake during Toronto's version of the Indy 500, the track for which was just blocks away. All the highways and streets were blocked off, and traffic was a nightmare, but in the end, once I arrived, it didn't matter because I much prefer to be where the action is, and that is what I got. If you drive to Toronto from the States, cross the border at The Rainbow Bridge, which is the easier crossing, and make time to take in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, where the view of Horseshoe Falls is magnificent. It was the perfect end to my stay in Canada. Finally, boy am I glad I drove. I arrived on the day of the Cyber attack that grounded so many flights in the US. My trip was meant to be. Bon Voyage!
