DISGUSTING! This place is getting worse by the year. Was in Tucson to move my daughter into U of AZ and while the location and property grounds are the only pluses, the rooms are dirty and disgusting, Linens have such a low thread count that it's like sleeping on paper towels; refrigerator wasn't working; air filter caked with dust (like it hadn't been changed in a long while); carpet dirty to the point where it darkened my son's bare feet (see pic); hot water so hot that it was hard to shower; ambivalent 'at your service' receptionists; dated lobby (needed renovation 25 years ago); 'swamp' coolers meaning no real air conditioning. Can't figure out why Marriot doesn't put some money into this otherwise nice property. They don't because they're cheap, don't care, and have a captive audience between the families of U of AZ and other companies that are looking for an affordable destination that can handle large conferences . Will never return.

Dirty, Dated, and Dilapidated Glancing at the review breakdown, most fall in the 5 star range. How is this possible? A few years ago in Croatia, I stayed at a "resort" hotel built when the country was part of Yugoslavia. Crumbling concrete blocks. Gaudy 1980s decor. An attempt at grandiosity that, even when new, probably was tacky. This is what the Tucson Westin La Paloma reminded me of. I was astonished at the condition of this hotel. Dirt and grime on the walls. Cracked and uneven sidewalks. Dying plants. Weeds growing up through cracks. Cigarette butts, band aids, potato chip bags...all sitting there for 2 solid days in public spots. Chunks of plaster falling off the walls. The room itself was not quite as bad...about the level of a Holiday Inn Express, but old and tired. Aside from a stray hair or two, it was reasonably clean. The hotel seemed to only be about 20% full. Perhaps that was due to Covid, the heat of summer, it being mid-week. Who knows. This did mean it was very quiet...but it felt dead. Almost like the hotel in The Shining. I had booked the place thinking it would be nice to relax in the pools and jacuzzis. (On the website, it looks like a top end luxury resort.) I walked around the pool and....yuck. Not swimming in there. This property is situated in a great setting on a hilltop. Nice neighborhood, fantastic views in all directions. But they need to bulldoze it and start over. (Save some of the cactuses, though.) On this same trip, I stayed at the Hacienda del Sol and Ritz Carlton. Both of these were outstanding.... And amazingly, all three cost the same and had the same TripAdvisor rating! Not sure I can trust this site anymore.

Adored everything about this place! The grounds were beautiful and the room were spacious and clean. The view of the mountains from our balcony was breathtaking. I loved the lobby area with the huge windows giving glorious views of the mountains. All the food we ordered at breakfast or lunch was very good. Really enjoyed eating by the pool. The pools were stunning. Loved having an adult pool with more relaxation and quiet. Incredible location....I suggest a hike through Saguaro National Park if you have the time. We will definitely be back!

They both went out of their way to make sure our family of 9 were taken care of! It’s people like this that will ensure that guests will want to come back and tell everyone about their fantastic experiences!! Thank you Donna and Tom!

For a Westin/Marriot disappointing I live in Tucson but stayed at the Westin for a couple of days because my a/c went out. I hadn’t stayed at the resort for a few years. Wow it’s pretty run down from what it once was. I realize that with Covid all the pillows, extra decor, etc had to be removed but the room was kinda nasty! There were stains on the sofa, the white sheets on the bed had a gray tinge just looked spent, towels in bathroom frayed and gray tinged, phone was old and kinda sticky, ewwww!, furniture was chipped or edges worn, a/c didn’t really cool the room all that well, bed hard, pillows smelled! There really wasn’t one single thing in that room that didn’t look old, worn or grungy. Good grief renovate the rooms!
