Old world charm in the best location in Vail Decided to take a last-minute trip with my daughter before she gets married in a few weeks. We had the loveliest time in Vail at this hotel. I've enjoyed the restaurant Pepi's for so many years (the goulash is to die for), but have never stayed at the hotel. Premier location, clean and very nice room, old-world charm. Truly felt like I was in Austria with the included continental breakfast and atmosphere. Will book again with my husband for a nice getaway.

Okay Place in Middle of Vail Village Great location but very few amentities for what we paid in August. Pros: --Right in the middle of Vail Village, surrounded by everything. --Can park in the hotel's garage (albeit for a steep $45 / night). --Free breakfast, although it is basic - Some fruit, cold cuts, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, cereal. --Small coffee maker in the room. Cons: --No fridge or microwave in the room. Would recommend bringing a cooler and loading it with ice, because they won't give you a lot of ice at once at the hotel bar. --Queen bed rooms are actually double beds. They measured 55 inches which is smaller than a standard queen. Hotel insisted they were queen beds. --Can only get ice from the hotel's bar which closes at 10PM. --Parking is not guaranteed, call ahead to see if they have spots. Otherwise, you need to park in the lot 7 minutes away. The garage is small and you may have to do a 9-point turn to get into your spot. --No one is on duty between 10PM and 7AM, so arrive before then or if you need anything, be sure to get it during normal hours. Things to note: --If you drive up to the hotel, you will have to drive on the pedestrian path in Vail Village. This is not made clear on the hotel's website. Be prepared to go slow as people get out of your way as you drive in.

Pricey stay with some issues This property is located in the walking district which makes it hard to find and difficult to access by car. We were told you are allowed to drive to the property to drop off your luggage, though. However, pedestrians in the walking area expressed annoyance at us driving there. Be sure to arrive before 9 pm weekdays and 10 pm at weekend, before the reception closes, because you cannot enter the property after that. We arrived shortly after 10 pm and were lucky to alert an employee in the adjacent Pepi’s restaurant (which also closed at 10 pm), who kindly let us in. It turned out there was an envelope waiting for us at the front desk, with instructions and room key – however, it would have been impossible for us to access that if we had not gotten in at all. The room has older furniture, but the décor is nice. No fridge though, and no A/C, which makes the room too warm in the summer. You could keep the balcony door open as there was a netting, to let cooler night air in, but then you get the noise from the streets. We were woken up at 6:30 am to the sound of garbage and delivery trucks. The breakfast was adequate with the nice addition of fresh fruit, but no hot items though, which was somewhat disappointing. Overall it was not quite worth the price, especially considering that we stayed there in the summer, which is not the high season in Vail.

Brisk and Uncaring I booked a trip for Sept. 12-15, 2023. Then due to lung cancer surgery, I was told I cannot go to this altitude. Hotel Gasthof has refused to refund my payment even though it will be Oktoberfest time and the room will easily be filled. I’ve called Hotel Gasthof 3 times in 2 days and the front desk persons are extremely rude and dismissive. When I, very politely, ask to speak to the manager they briskly tell me she is not there and won’t tell me how to reach her. No matter how beautiful this hotel might be…their front desk phone persons are terribly rude and uncaring.

Old World Charm A wonderful hotel for you stay in Vail. The service was great with sauna and exercise room. My room looked out on Gore creek and with a balcony you could enjoy the rafters going down the creek. My room was beautifully appointed with great bathroom and wonderful bed. Everything was clean and well appointed. Rather than saying in a towering hotel this hotel gave me great access to everything that is Vail.
