Ameristar Vicksburg….avoid! Avoid! We have stayed at other Ameristar resorts in the past including twice in July at the Blackhawk, CO location. The Vicksburg property is terrible, extremely dirty, both inside and outside. Typically hotels at least make their lobby area appealing, in this case the lobby, check in area and elevator were almost as bad as the room itself! I’m surprised that Ameristar corporate is okay with having their name associated with this property. My advice avoid this hotel, had we not just spent 12 hours in the road we would have left immediately.

Never again We used to love this hotel but haven’t visited in over a year. It has now changed to Pen casinos. It is not worth staying in. The bathroom floors and ceiling were dirty. Your room isn’t serviced while you’re there. The ice machine was broken, A/C didn’t work well, TV only worked part of the time. Pool is closed for maintenance , but we weren’t told prior. We requested a non-smoking room that smelled like a mixture of smoke and weed. The bed was not comfortable and the room was loud. We had no shampoo, the bottle on the wall wasn’t there. There is no shuttle to the casino. The convenience center in the hotel is closed. The restaurants in the casino are closed for breakfast and only the cafe is open during the week for lunch and dinner.

Not recommended The hotel is not connected to the casino. It is up the hill and across the street. Not walkable, no shuttle. Very deceptive website implies otherwise. When I complained to clerk she disregarded me. I suppose I should have demanded a refund of prepaid booking. In room soap was the size of a thin wafer. Room seemed clean, but prior occupant had spilled water on coffee service tray. Not a few drops, about a half cup. Also, I had called before booking to see if there were "pay per view" movies. Was told there were. Not true. Stay somewhere else. We ate at Red Lotus restaurant in casino. Awful meal, poor service. Asked for hot mustard, got plastic packets from Panda Express. Seriously! Asked for plates as we were sharing entres. Waitress brought one plate. Had to ask for another. Food had hardly any flavor. Eat somewhere else.
