Highly Recommended We stayed at the Alex Hotel in to celebrate a special occasion, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade, making our stay even more memorable. The hotel itself is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and incredibly comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect, with special thanks to Thomas, who was very welcoming upon check-in. The restaurant is outstanding, offering delicious food that we thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

We could see the Matterhorn from our 30' balcony. Our room was huge with 1 and 1/2 baths. The shower in the whirlpool tub was a 1.5 foot step up. The shower worked well but is not for someone over 6'. The bed was excellent. There is no air conditioning or fans. The staff leaves some windows open and we had a few flies and moths. Great TV, amazing decor. The bar and restaurant area, the whole hotel is something to see even if you dont stay here, come to the bar/restaurant.

Claustrophobic pokey room Hotel was selected by Insight Vacations as part of a tour of Switzerland. The hotel is quirky. But unfortunately I was allocated a singles room -this was a pokey matchbox room that didn’t have space for a suitcase. Rooms at hotel Alex do not have air conditioning- so this small room became claustrophobic and was a sauna for the most part. My fellow travellers who were sharing had lovely large rooms with Mountain View’s and therefore had a better experience. Hotel is centrally located to the village and railway station.

Close to town and clean A very well located hotel. Close to the train, just off the main street allows for a reprieve from the noise. The beds were so comfortable!!! The food was delicious. The hotel was clean. Hard to navigate to your room and so you may need some help. The night staff at the hotel desk was rude, but the rest of the staff were very polite.

Excellent Stay The hotel is well-located - close to the train station, and you can easily walk the entire town. The hotel has a beautiful, old world charm to it. Our room (in the main building, 2nd floor) had lots of wood, carved wooden ceilings, 2 arm chairs and table, makeup table/desk, nightstands, abundant closets, a safe, refrigerator, and a kettle. The spacious modern bath had heated floors and towel bar, a plush robe, and slippers. We had a narrow but long balcony with table & chairs and a view of the Matterhorn (is visibility allows). Our room was very quiet, but beware of the flock of sheep on the back side of the hotel. Some in our group were enchanted with their noise; others had a hard time sleeping! Reception was very helpful with hiking maps. Excellent breakfast buffet, but if you're put off by the lone coffee machine for such a large room, do ask a server for a pot of coffee to be brought to your table. We found the room very crowded early in the am, when everyone wants to get to the Matterhorn! If you can wait until 8, it is much calmer. Even if you don't play tennis, seek out the indoor tennis court in the basement - it is a HUGE space! We couldn't get into the squash court or pool without our key - pool looked lovely though.
