A cozy massage table. Dim lights. And, most importantly, a therapist that tailors her massages to needs of each client. Sarah J. Long's treatments range from relaxing to deep-tissue, allowing her to accommodate both emotional and physical tension. Each kneading lasts a full 60 minutes, meaning she doesn't count the 10 minutes it takes to get comfortable beforehand as part of her hour-long service.
There are many facets to health. That's why Living Tree Center for Healing provides wellness services ranging from chiropractic care, acupuncture and yoga classes to nutritional counseling and lifestyle advice. The facility also employs several licensed massage therapists. In the comfort of a private room, guests may request deep-tissue pressure to mitigate lower-layer aches, or craniosacral therapy to remedy ailments such as TMJ and scoliosis.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I am a Massage Therapist because I have always been a healer by nature. You will receive personalized service every time you come to my office. I am a independent therapist and your business means the world to me.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
In 2009 I had to have emergency surgery. I died 3 times during a 9 hour surgery. Recovery was EXTREAMLY difficult. Massage made all the difference in my recovery. I realized then healing through massage was the path God had chosen for me.
What do you love most about your job?
I love making people feel better. The satisfaction it gives my heart and soul has no bounds. When a client feels so content at the end of their appointment they do not want to get off the table or leave my office is the best gratification I could ask for.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
My favorite cusomter complement was when I had massaged an elderly woman who could not turn her head to the left for over a year. After a neck and shoulder massage for only 20 minutes, she walked away shouting down the hall." I can turn my head again! You have to get a massage her hands are so HOT!"
After 15 years as a personal trainer, Rebecca J. Shaw changed course and became a licensed massage therapist. Now, instead of pushing her clients to lift one more rep, she relaxes them during Swedish, deep-tissue, and Thai massages at Dreams Massage and BodyWorks. Moreover, she can schedule detoxifying lymphatic-drainage therapy sessions.
Although each massage therapist has his or her own technique, most have the same end goal: the well-being of the client. With Shannon at Body and Soul Massotherapy, clients should see massage as a tool of healing, whether they are recovering from injury, need to unwind from tension, or have been walking around with their elbows pointed outward all day. Shannon and her cohorts expunge stress with a range of modalities, including soothing relaxation to more-intense deep tissue.
