  • Dynamic Impact Volleyball Club
Dynamic Impact Volleyball Club sends female student-athletes sprinting, attacking, and passing across courts tiled with teamwork and healthy competition. Decorated players themselves, the club's coaches are dedicated to developing the talents of their young protégés both by creating a healthy, competitive environment and fostering each player's passion for the sport. Throughout the year, the nonprofit organization composes leagues for girls aged 18 and younger who can also test their skills during tournaments or while curving attacks around the windblown peanut-butter sandwiches soaring through the air at the club's beach leagues.

facet: Main type: BusinessTypeQuestionnaire locale: en_US title: A Chat with Illinois Performance Volleyball facet_type_id: de7daf30-2417-1033-8dfa-95fb7b92d7e7 html_text: What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? We are different in the use of technology, equipment, and coaching to statistically improve in the areas of hitting height, maximum touch, and hitting speed in terms of miles per hour. We are customer focused in working with the players on the scheduling. What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans? The one tip that I would provide first time students is the importance of the opposite or lead arm in the spike approach. Volleyball is very much a mistake sport, so a player needs to focus on training and form during in-tense game situations to produce championship results. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? By the belief that we could run our club from a moral level while still competing. Attention to the players that wanted to work more to improve in their sport. Helping the sport continue to grow by offering the opportunity to play at different levels- national, regional, and local. What do you love most about your job? When the athlete conquers a new skill. The satisfaction that the player shows when they know they can do a volleyball skill. We like to know that when we watch a player that we helped a player get to be one of the best players on the court.

  • Hall Quarry Beach / Batavia Park District
Like at a medieval fortress, a two-story structure made of wood and stone towers over a pool of water. And like the garbage chute that empties into the open mouth of a moat's crocodile, two diving platforms and a water slide deposit swimmers into the main pool at Batavia Park District's Harold Hall Quarry Beach—a 60,000-square-foot swimming hole chiseled into a former stone quarry. Though visitors can always brave the free falls, a zero-depth edge allows for a more leisurely entrance into the water, where guests of all ages swim laps in the lanes, practice slam-dunking on one another under the basketball hoop, or pull themselves onto a wooden island to sunbathe. On the shore, landlubbers can relax at the picnic area or head to the beach-volleyball court to prevent lobstermen from stealing the net.
