The walls at Tropical Treat Massage—festooned with photos of palm trees, beaches, and sunsets—are totally relaxing and wholly unnecessary. Because as CMT Wade Wutschke kneads your muscles to a loose and limber goo, your eyes will close and your mind won't have any trouble evoking its own blissful images. The goal here is to induce total relaxation and relief, which Wade does by administering massages that slow the mind and uplift the spirit. His specialties include Swedish, hot stone, and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage, which utilizes long strokes that run up and down the body. Reflexology and chakra work are also available, and help to balance the flow of energy throughout the body and make it less likely to short-circuit between charges.
Doctor of Chiropractic Lindsay Daniels first experienced chiropractic care as a patient. After the treatment worked wonders for her spinal pain, she pursued a career as a chiropractor herself. At Go Health Chiropractic, Dr. Daniels seeks to help patients with the same ameliorative care she received as a patient years ago. Today, she lends her expertise to clients that range from athletes to families and children.
The beauty team at Villager Salon and Spa–a small, neighborhood boutique-style salon–pampers and primps clients in a combined spa and salon setting. On the salon side of the facility, a small band of experienced hair stylists with years of experience bestows hair sculptures with a parade of high-end hair and beauty products by Paul Mitchell, Coppola, and Kenra. Villager's equally tight-knit spa technicians carry out their own collection of services, each with a diverse skill set that encompasses trigger-point massage techniques, waxing, and the use of hot stones for massages and extreme juggling.
The practitioners at Robin Center Chiropractic don't just fix you up and send you on your way. On the contrary—to help patients maintain good health on their own, they take the time to educate each one about positive lifestyle changes. Part of their method includes wellness practices through holistic medicine that aim to help keep the body in balance. As they work with patients to meet healthy goals, they perform treatments such as spinal adjustments, electrical muscle stimulation, and massage. A range of massage techniques target different issues. Lymphatic massage spurs the functions of that system, reducing inflammation. Other techniques encourage relaxation or improve range of motion or reduce joint pain. The team can use gentle or strong force or incorporate warm river stones.
Exercise videos posted on their website are an added bonus, teaching patients moves that will help them improve strength, stretch their range of motion, and win break-dancing competitions.
At Essentially Massage, licensed massage therapist Colby coaxes tension from his patients’ muscles with a range of techniques. His services include Swedish, deep-tissue, prenatal, and prescription worker’s comp or auto injury massages.

Q&A with the Owner
Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Providing anatomically specific massage therapy gives us the opportunity to heal people. It is so incredible to have a client come in [with] pain, discomfort, or reduced ability and be able to help them toward improving these conditions. We take time to educate the client so that they can best understand what created the condition... and what they can [or] should do to help themselves recover as fast as possible.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a client?
[One of my favorites was] that of a young man who has cerebral palsy and spends his life bent over crutches. After one of his massages, he told me that he felt so good he thought he could limbo. The other [came from] an 86 year-old man who had a medical condition that had reduced one shoulder and one hip to the point where he had only 15% range-of-motion in both joints. [When] he came in for his next massage [he told] me: "Last time when I left, I felt so good that I skipped to my car."
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
I grew up exposed to massage and have always had a gift for it, but in high school there was a basketball player...[to whom] I would give a forearm-and-hand massage before many games, and she would always come back and tell me how much better she played after those massages. I still see her for appointments.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Many massage practices [prioritize] the "rest and relaxation" service and spa-like atmosphere, and the therapeutic skill of the therapist is hit-or-miss at best. Our clinics focus on the skill of the therapists first and foremost. We provide a wide range of services including ones that will target your areas of concern with precision
or... that will absolutely melt you. Our offices provide a cozy—and some might say quaint—atmosphere. Our north office (2206 44th Ave.) has free, on-street parking on 44th. Our downtown office has a free parking lot and metered street parking.
