  • Guitar Lessons Columbus
When Dru Silver isn't touring America with his band Locusta—a trek the group has made five times—he draws on his more than 10-year career to teach budding guitarists at Guitar Lessons Columbus. He starts slow with kids, not only helping each pupil have fun mastering a favorite song they like, but also preventing them from falling through their acoustic guitar's hole. With older students, whether they're beginners or advanced shredders, he personalizes lessons around each pupil's goals and interests, whether it's notating favorite songs by ear or learning to improvise solos. Those skills come in handy during the other activities Dru curates for his students, including jam sessions, recording sessions, and live concerts.

  • Spilling Color
Not everyone is born an artist, but the folks at Spilling Color believe that anybody can be an artist. Their painting and pottery classes encourage each participant to sit back, grab a glass of wine, and unleash their inner artiste. Held at their studio, local artists lead students through the steps to create a finished masterpiece. Spilling Color also strives to give back to the community with the "We Give" program, with partial proceeds for each purchase going towards bringing art to under underprivileged kids and adults with disabilities.

  • Thank Yoga Studio
Josie Schweitzer opened Thank Yoga Studio in spring 2012. The two types of classes at the studio are open to students new to yoga and also those who have been practicing it for years. The studio's foundation classes introduce budding yogis to the necessary poses, alignment, and form practiced in more advanced sessions. The other main course is a one-hour all-levels Vinyasa flow class, during which students blend breath and movement into a fluid practice. Both these workouts are ideal for students who want to build strength, sharpen their mental faculties, and improve their flexibility so they can dominate on the competitive Twister circuit.

  • Yoga On High
Yoga on High serves as the focal point for a growing community of yoga enthusiasts dedicated to diverse, yet related practices. The studio caters to such a wide range of interests by employing more than 30 instructors. Each instructor possesses a unique yoga philosophy that complements the studio's overall goal of creating a welcoming environment for students of all ages and skill levels. Additionally, Yoga on High's comprehensive teacher-training programs swell the studio's community by fostering the next generations of impassioned instructors. At Yoga on High, the instructors embrace three core styles of practice. Iyengar-based Hatha classes emphasize physical alignment and mind-body awareness. Ashtanga sessions invigorate students with more active poses and a heated studio space that can reach 80 degrees. Vinyasa classes teach attendees to link breath with movement, creating seamlessly transitioning asana sequences. However, the studio doesn't limit itself to these three styles. In addition to aerial yoga and Pilates, the schedules include specialty classes that explore different aspects of yoga—meditation, breathing techniques, prop-assisted recovery poses—in greater depth.
