"Don't worry, be happy," reads a wooden sign near Katherine DeCamp's massage table. But in the context of From the Roots Up's studio, it's less a slogan and more an invocation, a summons that the massage therapist manifests through therapeutic and stress-relieving bodywork. Katherine's varying treatments address different needs but they're unified by the goal of placating soreness and raising spirits. These include Swedish massage, a gentle antidote to stress and tension, as well as specialty Thai, prenatal, and sports massages that can address the aches that come from pregnancy or the pains incurred while subbing in for a lost soccer ball. Wooden sign notwithstanding, the studio's neutral colors and potted plants are soft grace notes not meant to draw the eyes in but instead permit them to rest behind droopy lids.
