  • Baker School of Music
Conductor Clyde Baker has spent a career taking high-school and college ensembles all the way to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Along with a team of seasoned dancers, actors, and musicians, he prepares students for success on stage and in the orchestra pit. The school inhabits a handsome flagstone-and-stucco home base designed to produce a single harmonious chord in the event of windstorms. Within its specialized spaces, students stretch on the hardwood floors of giant dance studios and casts of triple-threats put on shows for their ardent fans on colorful sets.

  • Rokk Skoool
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? The Garage Rock Academy has been transforming absolute beginners in performing rock musicians since 2010. Beginning to advanced classes for guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals. Already play an instrument or sing? Join one of our Garage Bands. Weekly rehearsals and one guaranteed gig per month! Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring? Guitar and bass students will need to bring their instruments only to class, not their amps. Drum students will only need their sticks. Vocal and keyboard students will not need to bring anything extra to class. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? The concept was inspired by my experience as the worship music director for jr high and high school services from 2006-2009. I was given students with only some ability on their instruments or as vocalists and told to turn them into a band. I was very good at it and the idea soon became my living :) What do you love most about your job? The experience of working with kids being able to impart to them a skill that will serve them for the rest of their lives is priceless to me. Seeing them grow from clumsy beginners into actual rock stars is unbelievably rewarding :)

  • Musicology
Musicology’s cheerful blue space echoes with the energetic knocking-together of musical instruments as diminutive composers enhance their neural functions through the exploration of music. Working with New Directions Institute for Infant Brain Development, Musicology aims to help children from newborns to 3-year-olds develop their brains in age-specific classes. By introducing them to complex rhythms, harmonies, and the ability of song to get woodland creatures to clean things, the instructors work to activate connections in the brain that can improve learning abilities. Parents remain alongside children throughout the sessions, potentially picking up some music theory of their own.

Additionally, university-trained instructors offer private lessons for individuals interested in learning to play the piano and guitar—the standard acoustic or kleenex-box variety.

Our lessons are taught by vibrant teachers who are all working professionals in the music industry and have the experience needed to teach lessons. Just one step into our studio and you know that this is the professional environment needed to take your musical journey serious! Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring? Each room at our studio is fully equipped with a full length keyboard, mirror, guitar, ihome, microphone, marker board and more. Everything is designed to teach you in a professional environment. Your instructor will help you decide what books you need to get started. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? Jonnie and Brookie didn't just learn music, they lived it! They spent over 15 years performing professionally across the U.S. for places such as Radio Disney, Disney Summer at Sea, Sea World and more. Even though they still perform, what better way to share their love of music than to teach others. What do you love most about your job? We love teaching others to be passionate about music. We only hire teachers that are working musicians and are passionate as well. We wanted to have a studio that had everything that we knew was important in taking lessons. This includes the learning environment and only having vibrant teachers!
