Everyone practices self-care differently. For some people, it means taking time each day to meditate or go for a jog. For others, self-care means ignoring a growing inbox for the weekend and enjoying a night on the town. Kristen Jawad and the team at Women's Wellness Studio embraces these methods of self-care, along with a few of their own.
Holistic spa treatments: Rejuvenating spa offerings include full-body massages tailored to individuals' needs with a blend of bodywork techniques, such as Thai yoga stretching and cupping, along with warm bamboo and basalt stones. To augment these soothing massages, guests can treat themselves to indulgent add-ons, such as herbal hand and foot treatments complete with gentle exfoliation, soothing hot towels, and fragrant moisturizer.
Services for new and expectant mothers: To tend to the needs of new mothers and moms-to-be, Women's Wellness Studio offers several programs. The Mother-To-Be & Recovery program provides pregnant women with massage tips and support during recovery. Likewise, the 12-week postpartum course helps women look, feel, and function their best after giving birth through pelvic-floor and core-strengthening exercises.
Wellness consultations: Although practicing self-care is rewarding, it can also be intimidating, at least at first. That's why Kristen is there to help with wellness consultations. During these sessions, she designs personalized wellness plans for clients and teaches them
how to connect with their body and its natural healing abilities by via practical relaxation tools and techniques.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Walkies focus on building a long lasting relationship with you and your pet. We love dogs of all breeds and sizes and recognize that each dog has it's own unique qualities. We cater our approach to each dog's individual needs. We keep you in the loop by providing updates on their adventures!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
As a family run business, we have a shared passion for animals and also the great outdoors. We saw many of our friends and family working long hours and feeling guilty for leaving their beloved pets at home for 10-12 hours a day to go to work, and so we opened our doors for the first time in 2009.
What do you love most about your job?
Spending all day every day around waggy tails!
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
We've encountered all types of dogs with may different stories. But it's always a pleasure to work with rescue dogs who have found their forever home. A lot of rescues have never had structure or proper socialization, so being able to help and contribute to that new found happiness is a blessing.

Shane Hoefsloot devoted more than 25 years of his life to working as a registered nurse in more than 15 hospitals spread across three different countries. These decades of experience sparked his passion for discovering holistic treatment modalities, which, unlike traditional medical procedures, focus on restoring a sense of balance to the body and treating symptoms as well as their underlying causes. This holistic approach forms the basis of Shane's philosophy at Wellness Northwest. Using computerized scanning devices, Shane and his staff take clients' bioenergetic readings, searching for the sorts of imbalances that can interfere with the body's normal function and can even facilitate the onset of illnesses. Wellness Northwest's team strives to correct these imbalances by using everything from plant stem cell treatments to pulsed magnetic therapy, which jump-start the body at the cellular level and help restore the unhampered flow of its natural energies. Additionally, personalized nutritional programs explain the importance of embracing a diet composed of local, organic, and nutrient-dense foods that are low on the glycemic index and devoid of toxins such as packing peanuts.
