A Chat with Kristen Swegles LAc.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I specialize in pain management and women's health. I have doctorate level training, and years of experience studying with midwives and masters from China. I provide one on one compassionately attentive care for the full hour of treatment.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Santa Barbara is my hometown. I am motivated by a passion to aid the members of my community on paths to self improvement, spiritual growth, and vibrant health. I am excited to share the tools of Chinese Medicine and get results for ailments that are otherwise difficult to treat.
What do you love most about your job?
I love people, and I love seeing them rise into greater states of well being. I love sharing what I know about Chinese Medicine, one of the most powerful healing tools in the world, to help people reach their health goals.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
I helped a client get free from sciatic pain in one treatment, after they had spent years looking for relief elsewhere.
Jacquelyn L. Sugich L.Ac. began her career with the single goal of healing people without resorting to drugs. She enrolled in Santa Barbara College Of Oriental Medicine and studied ancient modalities in China as she worked toward a master's of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. After graduating in 2006, she started her practice and went straight to work.
Today, she follows the guiding principle of Chinese medical theory, the cornerstone of which is prevention. She fights off stress and eases muscular tension with her signature massages, and uses hair-thin acupuncture needles to unleash endorphins and reduce anxiety, abdominal pain, and balloon-animal populations. Though these acupuncture sessions are her specialty, they generally make up just one spoke in the wheel of customized, holistic treatment plans that incorporate multiple approaches, including diet and Chinese herbal remedies.

Miklos Hubay worked for two decades as a massage therapist before receiving his Masters in Oriental Medicine and adding acupuncture to his pain-relief arsenal.
Today he maintains a careful, unhurried approach in all of his
services, which also includes herbal medicine. During acupuncture, he places hair-thin needles at specific
places on the patient's body,
helping relieve ailments such as insomnia,
and headaches. His massage therapy treatments can prove just as helpful in relieving pain and tension, especially muscle-soothing deep-tissue massage—his specialty.
When Taylor J. Winn isn't helping patients to drop pounds at The Biggest Loser’s resort, where she holds the position of official acupuncturist, she can be found at Taylored Acupuncture, her peaceful practice in downtown Santa Barbara. There, she delicately inserts tiny acupuncture needles into the skin, promoting weight loss or treating issues that range from anxiety to cerebral palsy. She also prescribes chinese herbs to patients, providing natural relief.
