  • Color Me Rad
Color Me Rad is back and better than ever with its 2015 tour, staging 5K races that transform runners into mobile rainbows by launching cheerful barrages of colored cornstarch and a whole new GEL color. Each color station along the racetrack flings a new pigment at passersby, who wear white shirts to enhance the chromatic onslaught's costuming effects. Brilliant neon-blue, green, purple, and yellow clouds dapple participants along the way, and the race concludes with a prismatic finish-line finale as sprinters chuck colors at each other in celebration. The race's noncompetitive credo shifts the emphasis from speed to silliness, and a portion of its proceeds go to local charities. Upon registration, each runner collects a Color Me Rad T-shirt and a pair of RAD knee-high socks, sponsor gifts, and a race bib. Also, new for 2015, all runners will receive access to free professional digital photo downloads. Though they don't receive a gift packet, runners who are 7 years old and younger can run for free.

  • "Evangel Christmas Celebration"
Bishop Don Meares and his wife, Marion, deliver large-scale worship services and celebrity-studded events at Evangel Cathedral Multi-Media & Arts Center. In addition to prayer services, the stunning faith center hosts Bible study classes, mentorship opportunities, and even a spiritual hotline that parishioners can call in times of distress. Women's groups and youth groups foster an even greater sense of community among the congregation. The church also has many specialized facilities: a bookstore provides edifying materials, and a banquet hall called Camelot invites diners to try and pull a knife out of the mystical block of butter in the kitchen.

  • Riverdale Baptist School
Sports International's football clinics make MVPs of 7- to 18-year-olds in an intensive, small-group setting with instruction from college and high school coaching staff. The Steve Slaton two-day camp, running July 10?11 in Sugar Land, gives potential pigskin purveyors a comprehensive crash course in offensive and defensive skills from renowned Texans running back Steve Slaton, talented high-school coaches, and a mob of disgruntled footballs. Working in groups no larger than 10, nascent Heisman candidates perform many of the same drills taught by the Texans' coaching staff. Attendees receive a free camp T-shirt and souvenir autograph football but must provide, rent, or manufacture their own playing gear.
