What makes your business stand out?
People come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Because of this, our portrait packages do too. No two people ever want the same thing, so we tailor each session and each package. We're not afraid to think outside the box.
What inspired you to start or run this business?
Ever since I was in high school and my parents let me play with their Nikomat 35mm camera, I have been hooked on the lens. I have been taking pictures ever since.
What is your most popular offering?
Our two-hour portrait session is by far our most popular package. It gives the client plenty of time for wardrobe changes, multiple locations, and a DVD full of fantastic photos to share with friends and family.
Anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
It may sound cliché, but we are not happy unless you are happy with the photos we take. You can trust in Organic Focus Photography to listen to what you want, to photograph what you wish, and, hopefully, to surprise you with something unexpected.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?
The best reactions are always from parents that are amazed we caught a particular pose or face from their child. The scrunched up smile of a toddler with his trucks or the puckered face right before she blows all the dandelion seeds off the stem—seeing a parent's love for that child and appreciation for capturing that moment is beyond words of praise.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
Life moves so quickly. Kids grow up so fast. Elders we grew up with are absent in our adult years. Every picture we take, we make life stand still for that one moment in time. We love capturing these moments that you may never be able to capture again or redo again. It gives us great joy to be able to share that moment and provide our customers with a lasting impression that they can cherish and pass on for years to come.

A soft focus surrounds the subjects in Love Photography's images, lending warmness to a close-up of a bride wearing her veil and dreaminess to a sultry couple posing together in a boudoir session. During these shoots, Love Photography’s team of photographers makes subjects feel at ease by scheduling complimentary consultations before the shutter even starts snapping. Like William Tell shooting an apple off his son’s head, the staff believes that practice makes perfect, and they’ve been practicing their photographic aim during weddings, family portrait sessions, and kids’ photo shoots since the studio opened in 1970.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I have my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Classical Guitar and have 24 years' experience teaching private guitar. My lessons are designed around the goals of the student. I give students a solid foundation in technique so he or she can get the most out their hands, all in a patient environment.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
The student must have their own guitar and, if taking classical, their own footstnd. He or she purchases the appropriate book from me.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
To do what I love, music, and the passing of music on to others.
What do you love most about your job?
I love witnessing students realize their goals for the guitar, whether those goals are very modest or very ambitious. Beginner students sometimes come in hardly believing that they could one day play the guitar. It is very satisfying to see their dream gradually become a reality.
Paula Atwell wasn't born an artist. She didn't pursue any art form in college, instead achieving a degree in English and a minor in accounting. After logging years in standard 9–5 jobs, she had an epiphany—it was time to do something for herself. Taking this newfound motivation to action, Paula enrolled in a beading class and followed it with forays into metalsmithing, crafting, and soldering.
These experiments in creativity led her to join the Lake Erie Artists co-op in 2003, where she began to show her eclectic jewelry at their booth during local festivals. When the co-op became incorporated in 2005, Paula's business world experience made her an obvious choice to lead the diverse group of artists in forming their own gallery. Today, the co-op-turned-gallery now carries hundreds of art pieces that span a range of media.
Producing blown-glass sculptures and handcrafted metal jewelry and pottery, the artists each specialize in a few select media as decided during the gallery's annual game of spin-the-paintbrush. The staff at Lake Erie Artists Gallery is also a strong proponent of local business, encouraging their patrons to browse Shake Square after looking at their wares. In project-oriented classes taught by working artists, students explore jewelry and painting and leave with their handcrafted pieces.
