Even though art is one of the first things schools cut from their budget when facing financial problems, Sarah King thinks that line of thinking is short-sided. She knows that it's important for kids to be able to be innovative and to develop their creative-thinking skills—skills that will help them in any career, even if they don't go into the arts.
That's why Sarah, who has a bachelor's degree in fine art and a master's in education, opened The King Art Studio. There, she and her instructors help budding artists express themselves through painting and drawing lessons, sculpture and ceramic classes, and graphic arts sessions. She also offers private painting parties, in which the group chooses the subject matter, receives step-by-step instruction from Sarah, and leave with their very own reminder of a fun night out.
