CityScape Adventures sends participants careening through the urban jungle, testing wits against 12 puzzles and challenges en route to the finish line. Adventurers compete in teams of two, using their brains, brawn, and teacher-endorsed ability to play well with others in an effort to complete the tasks given at the start of the race. Daring duos must pack an assortment of tools to assist in their quest, including a digital camera (or phone with a camera), writing utensil, $10 each in one-dollar bills for public transportation or tipping the pizza guy, and road-friendly shoes. The first pair to successfully complete all tasks and leap past the finish line will receive a cash prize and the reluctant cheers of high-school frenemies.
Participants dart into the 5-hour race after checking in at Bikini Bar Las Vegas at 11 a.m., and festivities begin at noon come rain, purple rain, or shine. Each team must have at least one adult, and racers younger than 12 are not permitted.
Inspired by The Amazing Race, CityScape Adventures—held across the United States—entangle race participants in webs of 12 puzzles and challenges in citywide races to the finish line. Participants compete in teams of two, using their wits, teamwork, and underground network of mutant-turtle spies to complete the tasks given at the start of the race. The 12 challenges take the form of puzzles, riddles, and clues that guide treasure hunters to a specific location within the city, where each team must complete a special task using only their cleverness and muscles. Players can also use the Internet, and the winning team is usually the one that best leverages its resources. The first team to successfully complete all tasks and vault over the finish line will receive a prize and assembly line of high-fives.
