Worlds collide in the best possible way at Jefferson City’s second annual Cosplacon, a four-day celebration of all things anime and cosplay. Guests might see Batman share a fist pound with Chewbacca, or Adventure Time’s Fionna and Cake pose for a picture with the stalwart crew of the Airship Vindus. A lineup of cosplay contests, gaming tournaments, and discussions provide a festive look at fictional characters from across the multiverse. The show also includes a non-competitive cosplay fashion show and encourages attendants to bring their own outfits.

Real-life alter egos in attendance include Kyle and Malinda Mathis of Synchro-Hearts, a husband-and-wife duo known for their award-winning costumes. At the pair’s panel discussions, they introduce wig-making techniques, character creation, and expanding one’s costume repertoire. Game designer and EverQuest expert Eric Wile provides perspective on working digitally, and the aeronauts of the Vindus cover steampunk-related topics from persona creation to which members of the Ramones were actually cyborgs.
