What You'll Do

Restaurants, condos, and hundreds of years of development have buried many historic landmarks in Philadelphia's Waterfront District, but local historian and author Harry Kyriakodis is determined to dig them back up. Kyriakodis takes you and the rest of the tour group on a journey into the area's rich maritime history, pointing out significant sites and telling multiple stories. He reveals how the earliest Quaker settlers lived in caves along the Delaware River, how the Yellow Fever Epidemic devastated the community in 1793, and what made the Waterfront District the crown jewel of Colonial America's maritime economy.
