On Saturday, April 13, the Gnarly Neon 5K kicks off at Douglas and Waco, near the Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center, at 9 a.m., with waves of racers starting every 15 minutes. The party continues afterward at The Brickyard in Old Town, which will remain open on race day for all ages until 10 p.m. with live music by Ten Day Wish. Participants are encouraged to wear white or a crazy costume, though neither is required.

Gnarly Neon 5K

Quick⎯what are the colors of a rainbow? If you had any hesitation answering that question, participating in a Gnarly Neon 5K could provide you with a wearable cheat sheet. Inspired by similar color runs, Gnarly Neon splashes runners across the U.S. in vivid colors⎯all in the name of charity. As live DJs and bands play, runners sprint in all-white getups or crazy costumes while dodging crowds of onlookers who can douse them with safe-to-wear paint. Each Gnarly Neon event raises money for charities serving children and adults with developmental disabilities.
