Mezè’s chef and owner Harun Bolukbasi designs a menu of authentic Middle Eastern small plates from scratch. Mezè—a Persian word meaning flavor—is the eastern Mediterranean’s answer to Spain’s tapas, and include spiced kebabs and dips meant to be shared with friends. One classic, köfte, bundles beef, lamb, and parsley into meatballs ($6.25), perfect for launching into mouths from tableside catapults. Tuck into piscatorial delights with seafood dishes such as kebabs of salmon ($8.25) and shrimp ($8.95). Specialties cover a wide range of vegan choices, such as muhammara, a roasted red pepper and walnut spread ($5.95), and an array of imported Turkish beers roll out until 1:30 a.m. (2:30 a.m. on weekends) for late-night revelry or surprise parties for sleepwalking friends.

Named for the shareable, tapas-style dishes popular throughout the Mediterranean and Middle East, Mezè Restaurant offers dinner and brunch in a relaxed, lounge-y environment as well as a mojito bar. A bevy of meze allows diners to sample many different flavors over the course of one meal, introducing tastebuds to housemade Turkish bread and cheese, savory spreads, and grilled, skewered meat. Mezè also offers a variety of vegetarian dishes, including a $35 vegetarian prix-fixe menu. Full-sized entrees are also available for those who prefer a one-plate approach to dinner, while a late-night menu keeps revelers, insomniacs, and ridiculously early risers fed after 10 p.m.

The Kofte (meatballs sprinkled with onions and parsley) is spicy and delicious
