Runners gather at the 4-H Camp on September 7 to tackle 3.02 miles of muddy, obstacle-filled terrain, motivated by the heart-pumping tunes of the official race band, The Pulse. Each competitor receives a T-shirt, official Survival Race dog tag, and a chip timer. Photographers will capture epically muddy moments in digital format, with images available in a free digital picture suite after the race. Postrace, runners can refuel with food, drinks, and beer available for purchase.
The Survival Race
The Survival Race’s 5-kilometer track challenges racers to navigate a gauntlet of mud-laden terrain. Staggered waves of up to 300 runners each conquer military-style obstacles, wade through murky water, and slide through muddy trenches before reaching the finish line to celebrate at a shindig awash with delicious eats and smitten swamp monsters. Afterward, a Facebook album aids online nostalgia by showcasing dirt-caked athletes and their marshy feats.
