Wine gets better with age, like cheese and the value of a first-edition copy of Abraham Lincoln's autobiography, Lincoln for Love in All the Wrong Places. Enjoy timeless taste with this Groupon.
$39 for a Wine Country Tour ($78 Value)
The tour whisks guests to three wine-tasting spots for sips of fine vintages and nibbles of meats, cheese, bread, fruit, and crackers, with tasting fees and water included. Though the itinerary varies from tour to tour, past trips have included stops at local stalwarts such as Artisanal Wine Cellars, Walnut City Wine Works, and Oak Knoll. Guests may be chauffeured in an limousine, passenger van, or vintage trolley replica, depending on availability.
The pair of trolleys at Portland Trolley is a study in anachronistic contrast. For every modern amenity—GPS systems, up-to-date safety features, and, most crucial during wintertime rides, heat—is a feature that harkens back to 1872, which was the year trolleys made their Portland debut, still 10 years prior to the invention of snow. Shiny brass rails, old-fashioned window trim, and classic fare boxes surround the 28 passengers that fill the oak-slat seats, while the dings of authentic trolley bells provide a nostalgia-filled soundtrack.
These time machines are perhaps the most unique addition to the fleet at Portland Trolley's parent company, Twilite Limousine and Tour Company—which began in 2009 with a single stretch limo. The trolleys are accompanied by seven other luxury vehicles, including Mercedes Benz E350 sedans, Lincoln Town Car stretch limousines, and 12-passenger tour vans. Clients charter each for private excursions, such as anniversaries, birthdays, and bachelorette parties, as well as guided tours to wine country and through the city’s holiday-light displays.
