The Comfort Suites University- Research Park Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. Over the last 10 years, my wife and I, stayed at this hotel many times, sometimes twice a year and every time our stay was for at least four nights in a row. I'd like to think that I know this hotel rather well. For many reason, this was my preferred hotel in the area. I use to really like this hotel but, things have changed. With the latest ownership, management and the reduced housekeeping staff, this hotel has sadly gone down hill...

Maybe not the place for you! Comfort Suites in University Research Park in Charlotte, NC was a big disappointment. Unfortunately, I have to report that, I was very unhappy with the accommodations. So much so, that we had to move our venue to a more appropriate location that was cleaner, safer and more appropriate for a family reunion setting. This hotel currently has transient individuals living there with suspicious characters meandering in and throughout the establishment. The location posted there was an outside pool. However, when I checked in I was told that the pool was not in working condition due to inspection delays. This was a huge disappointment considering this was a family reunion with many of children in attendance. Also, this location was seven(7) stories with only one ice machine available, major inconvenience. The facility was dark with a foul mildew odor upon arrival. This hotel is not the first Choice Hotel that I have stayed in as an individual, that has been consistently substandard. I am informing you and your establishment that I will not be recommending this franchise of hotels to my family or friends.

Stay somewhere else! Luckily I only needed one night here. This was one stop on our college road trip. We stayed at this chain in Georgia before coming here and it was great so I didn't hesitate to make a reservation. This place is terrible. I should have known when I stepped into the lobby because there is an odor. The bed was comfortable but squeak when you move. The pillows are terrible. There's peeling paint and damaged old furniture.

pool drained....not operational It's not like in the pictures. First, there is no pool! Nope. It is a wreck and drained except for the green ick at the very bottom. Not even worthy of sitting outside anywhere. Evidently, the smoking area is at the front entrance. I have asthma and it was rough going in and out thru the front area. Without the pool, that back area is sad. There are people hanging out in the parking lot all evening. I guess there just wasn't much else to do out here in this area. I didn't see the usual Gold or Diamond Choice parking. If it's there, I drove around and didn't see it. The people at the desk were nice and I felt the room was clean. It just wasn't what the hotel's photos show you. Sorry.

No. We used this hotel due to a flight delay - it was comped by the airline and the only choice the airline gave us. We arrived late, around 11pm. We appreciated getting a room so late in the evening. The check-in lady was OK, she processed our online airline hotel-voucher even though she looked confused because it was not a printed voucher (which I assume is the traditional way of doing it). Our room was spacious. The furnishings were extremely worn and tired. The sofa was unusable and had a rip/tear down one of the cushions. The wooden desks looked clean but old and the bathroom was probably the worst part. Tiles were worn/old, the handheld shower was missing, the shower curtain rod looked like it was about to fall off the wall, metal in the general area was corroded and it was really just a lot of yucky things that all added up to it being an unpleasant experience. Bed was a 5/10, lumpy... we brought our own pillowcases thank goodness. The outlets we tried all worked, as did the lamps. The linens in the sad bathroom were actually nice. We did see the trash panda (raccoon) when we left the next morning. I wouldn't recommend this hotel but we did sleep for a few hours and got back to the airport.
