Bad Experience My room was dirty. There was dirt on the bathroom floor and a q tip. Bed sheets were not completely clean and neither was the floor, or anything, really. However, workers were friendly and helpful when I had questions. It was a bit sketchy, as well. There were police there one night.

Endured grueling stay My husband and I recently had the ordeal of spending several nights in Extended Stay America. Our reservations were for 14 nights, but we ended up spending three of those nights in the home of a friend due to toxic conditions at this hotel. When we arrived late at night after a long day of travel, we were told by the friendly night clerk that our room was on the third floor. My husband asked directions to the elevator and was told there was no elevator! We are both older, with knees as old as we are. I also have a mild heart condition. Lugging all our baggage to the third floor, and having to trudge up and down for two weeks was out of the question. We asked for a room on a lower floor, but were told there weren't any available. The clerk and my husband took our baggage upstairs, and I followed slowly, stopping every 4 or 5 steps to catch my breath. When we finally got to our room, it was dreary and dark. Although the bathroom wasn't clean, the sheets were, and we were exhausted, so we decided to sleep, and deal with the situation the next day. We were surprised the following morning to find the kitchen cabinets completely devoid of plates, cups, silverware, can opener, or any other item necessary for "extended stay." My husband inquired at the front desk about the missing items and was told he needed to request the bins. When he did ask, he was handed two plastic bins of assorted kitchen stuff. Oh good! More stuff to drag up the stairs to the third floor! While he was there, he asked if we could be moved to a lower floor at the earliest possibility. The disinterested desk clerk mumbled something about that not being possible because they had a rotating set of 10 rooms out of service while the bathrooms were being updated. We already knew from a pre-checkin discussion that we were effectively being held captive in the hotel because we had made our reservations online in order to take advantage of a "room sale", making our payment non-refundable. We could leave any time we wanted, but we'd lose all of our money. We asked to be moved every morning for several days, but we were ignored. Back at the room, we had begun to notice several other deficiencies. There was no coffee maker. No hangers in the closet! No plug for the sink drain, therefore no way to fill the sink to wash our dishes. -There was a huge hole cut out of the closet curtain, and one of the kitchen cabinets was missing part of a door, and the remaining part was missing its veneer. We had no soap or shampoo, but were told we could chase down a maid if we saw her cart in the hallway. When we opened the first bin of kitchen items, we found 2 plates, 2 bowls, 6 table knives, 1 spoon, no forks, no coffee cups/mugs, and two can openers! We also saw a big, angry, hand-written note that the bin would be counted at our check out and we would be charged $25 if anything was missing. The value of the contents was certainly less than $6, and there was certainly nothing we'd want to have as our own! We began to notice, that although this was a non-smoking hotel, our corridor nearly always smelled of cigarette smoke or marijuana. But that was when it didn't smell of the toxic fumes of epoxy being applied to the tubs in bathrooms around us. Instantaneous headache and impending nausea convinced us we had to leave. We spent three nights at the home of a friend. We travel to my hometown from overseas twice a year, for at least three weeks at a time. There is not whiff of a chance we will ever be staying at an Extended Stay America again!

Extended STAY AWAY We got into the hotel all right, but quickly found that the stairways reeked of fresh cigarette smoke. Regardless of what they say, this is NOT a non-smoking hotel. No elevator, so this is not so friendly if your luggage has wheels - or if you're not up to traipsing up and down the stairs. Our initial room had a strong odor along with a broken towel rack (which we were asked to fix) as well as a clogged bathroom sink (which we were also asked to fix). We demurred and asked for a new room (it was two flights down, and this was at 2 AM). Our queen bed was gone; in its place were two twin beds. They were overly soft and provided little support. The carpeting was heavily stained. Several days later, we awoke to a pall of smoke and the odor of burnt food; someone down the hall had overdone something. Even so, the smoke alarms did not go off (I suspect they may be inoperative). The halls and stairways looked like they all needed to be swept, and smelled bad. We were glad to be gone and will NEVER be back. We also found during checkout that they had assigned our old room (with its non-draining bathroom sink) to another guest without repairing it! (We know this because the woman they'd given the old room to was right behind us during checkout.) All we got from the management was apologies, but they insisted they couldn't do anything about any of the issues involved. Don't stay here. You won't get what you pay for. You'll get apologies, sure - but no refund, no help, and no amenities that you counted on when you made your reservation.
