Very Clean! Absolutely the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in! It’s a block from train station and about 1 mile from Gandy Theater. Breakfast had a little more variety than most. Clean. The pool was visible and a good size. Again, clean. The chairs were for bigger people too.

Nice Place The hotel has plenty of parking and is located within an easy walk of downtown. We stayed in room 325. The room was very clean, well designed, and very quiet. The checkin/checkout process was soooo easy. The breakfast food was always well stocked and the area kept very clean. The downsides: one day the room was not cleaned even tho we wanted full maid service. We reported it and on the other days all was fine. The a/c unit was noisier than usual and worked only intermittently, not maintaining temperature sometimes. All in all, a pleasant stay.

Where are all the grown-ups? We have stayed at many HIX during our trips to the US, but this must be one of the worst experiences we have had. It was like there had been some kind of mutiny and a bunch of strangers had taken over the hotel. To take the good things first, the hotel is very centrally located downtown, which is unusual for this brand of hotel, so it's within easy walkable distance of all shops and restaurants. There is also free parking. So for the other issues.. When we arrived in the lobby it was so dark that we actually thought that the power was gone. When we in addition found three guys at the front desk hanging over a computer, we definitely thought that something was wrong, but apparently not. They were not so interested in us though, so I think were were standing there for almost a minutes before one of them pushed a form our way and asked for the name and told us to fill out the registration form. No welcome, no smiles, no member-acknowledgement, no information. They had however posted a note on the desk saying that the pool was closed (probably tired of all the questions), but they had no idea when it would open again. Given that we booked this hotel, mainly because of us wanting a pool for our child, that was a huge letdown. When you have notes posted and there's and unkown opening date, that is something you also pos ton your website. In this case I also called the day before to add my kid to the reservation, which would be a great opportunity for them to also inform about the closed pool (kids tend to like pools). We had a suite which were your typical room, nothing special either way. When we went out for the evening, we again realized how obvious the lack of management were. We usually use stairs rather then the elevator and when doing so we realized that ALL fire doors were left open. Not on accident, but on purpose. How is that even possible? For breakfast we were again wondering how staffing was done there. Some guy went around in a hoodie and a cap, seemingly very confused about everything, and although he didn't do anything wrong, that's not something you expect from a professional hotel. Actually I don't think any of the staff we met had uniforms. All in all this was an extremely disappointing experience, so some grown-ups needs to get to work.

Great place to stay Comfy beds, friendly staff, Chris & Tim were attentive breakfast attendants. Clean facility, centrally located, on the same block as the farmers market, railroad museum and the Appalachian Forest Heritage Discovery Center & several cute small shops.

Will Stay Here Again! Nice, clean hotel! Rooms are well equipped with nice linens and comfy beds. The hotel is located right across from the Elkins Train Station for day trips on the train. It is also within walking distance to several really great restaurants for dinner. Breakfast is included and it was surprising good with sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, sausage, pastries, cereals, etc...
