Sonesta Simply Suites Houston – NASA Clear Lake

Sonesta Simply Crap. This place is poorly run, poorly taken care of and is not very clean. Badly in need of a remodel. This place is poorly run, poorly taken care of and is not very clean. It started with the rodent traps in plain sight as I entered the foyer. The carpet in my room had several stains, chipped paint, empty picture frame on the wall and old fixtures. It is in dire need of a remodel! I stayed there for three weeks, unfortunately. They “cleaned” the room three times, they just changed the towels, made the bed and took out the garbage. There was a dead bug on the windowsill the day I checked in and that bug stayed there until I checked out on the 26th. It’s probably still there! The hotel does not have a generator so during hurricane Beryl, the power was out for about three days. It was like a movie walking down the hallways in the dark with my iPhone light to get to my room; their glowsticks in the halls didn’t help. When they finally got power to the hotel, the parking lot lights still didn’t work for at least another day, I can’t explain that. Two weeks into my stay, I took the elevator up to the second floor to get to my room and was hit with a terrible gas smell. I reported it to the front desk and they said that they had turned off the gas and that I could stay on the first floor room. (That’s not going to help me if the hotel explodes.) Luckily the smell dissipated by the next morning. If my company didn’t require me to stay there, I would have checked out and gone to another motel. The best thing about my room was that the mattress was very comfortable. There are much better, and definitely cleaner, hotels in Clear Lake than this one. I suggest you stay at one of them. I’ll never stay at another Sonesta property.

Lobby Stinks! Really - it smells bad. For the price, it is not the value I expected. First, the lobby stinks! It smells like a dirty mop combined with sweaty sports clothes. My suite was very clean. The appliances are old and there was no dish soap other than for the dish washer. The bathroom was also very clean, with enough towels - shampoo, conditioner and body soap are supplied in a wall dispenser but there was no hand soap. The bed was clean, comfortable and the pillows are very good. We had problems using the internet via the wifi. No pool, no onsite food service (McDonald's is nearby) - but there is a laundry. I doubt I will stay again.

Amazing staff The hotel provides everything you need but stands above similar hotels by having the friendliest and most attentive staff you coul ask for. I have stayed there several times and is always my first choice in Houston because of the staff.

Ugh, double ugh, cross this off your list! I expected someone to greet me at the reception desk. It wasn't late. But the person was hanging with guests on the pool deck. I should have recognized issues. Went to take a shower. Shower stall had long black hair all over the walls. I have short blond. Complained to the front desk. Said they'd take care of it. Gave me 1,000 pts. Come back that evening. Realize a ring is missing from my room. Go to take a shower. Still hair all over. Took pics. Talked to the front desk and emailed general manager. She seemed to think I was fibbing. I mentioned the picture I had sent. Gave me a refund on one night. Ignored the missing ring (my wedding band.) Seriously, watch out. Not up to the usual Hilton Honors standards. Stay at your own risk.

Very good Room was so freakin cold and had a confortable sleep. Everything was affordable and had great internet service. Parking was harsh by their guest. SO far So good. We will come back to Texas at anytime whenever.
