Awful place but lovely reception staff First of all the reception staff were very helpful and had it not been for them we would have moved hotels. This hotel chain is lucky to have them. The First room smelt awful. 2nd room strong smell of cat urine, so bad it kept me up. (No complaints that they allow animals but give them rooms with washable floors -obviously) so moved to third room. TV service not working for 24 hrs, no fridges, no safes so we had to carry all valuables all day. Filthy floors, curtains hanging off rails and such dirty upholstery worm out ripped fabric we did not sit in the armchair. The rooms, all 3 we saw are so run down, how can this be 3 stars? The reception is pretty but trust me that is all that is.

this place is horrible I can't believe this place averages at 4 stars. It's awful. Chose because we wanted to be downtown, with a pet, and it had 4 stars. First bad sign - pulled in, no one at front desk, then a woman asked me if I needed help, i said I'd like a room. She said I have to do it online. Really? She can't book it at front desk? So I go out to my car and make a reservation online. What do people without smart phones do, like my elderly mother? Come back into the lobby, again no one at front desk, there's a sign that she's helping other customers, so I wait and wait. Finally she returns and gives me room keys. Go up to the room, keys don't work. Go back to the lobby, no one is at the desk. Wait, wait, wait, finally she shows up again, tell her keys don't work, she gives me new keys. OK, we get in to the room. Very old and dingy - doors are filthy. I take a shower- wall mounted shampoo, conditioner, bath gel. Shampoo mount is broken. Bath gel is empty. Go to front desk - they have no more bath gel and no more soap. Go to ice machine - broken. Go to front desk - ice only works on 3 floors (out of about 10?) This place is gross - avoid at all costs!

The pictures advertising this place are definitely dated! They don't show the truth. Hilton should be ashamed to call this hotel one of its own. It desperately needs many repairs. Staying here 4 nights and only seeing the housekeeping staff once... terrible. Rooms not vacuumed upon initial entry. Elevators that go out of service when going down to the main floor end up in the basement. Paint chips on the window sills big enough for a child to ingest! Mismatched toilet cover lids and toilets were very low to the ground. Since the toilet cover was the wrong one the flush handle was consistently wet from toilet water runoff. No fan in the bathroom area. Large dogs are allowed so be aware, they bark all the time when the owner leaves, regardless of what the owners think! We went to the store and bought Lysol spray so that we could be comfortable with the smell and sitting on the furniture. The headboard is gross and doesn't appear to have ever been wiped down. The TV didn't work, luckily we had our iPads to keep us busy. The shower is hot as hell in the morning, so much so that you can not control the temp then in the afternoon Zero hot water... lukewarm at best that turns cold. I was soaped up and had to shut it off for a few minutes hoping it would warm up enough for me to rinse off. There was no soap dish. So, soap for the sink makes a mess on the ledge. Of all the bad things, the bed was comfortable. The pillows were nice. $30 for valet; I parked in a local city, lighted parking lot overnight for $6 instead. $24 vs $120!! The one thing going for this hotel is it's centrally located. There are many nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. For the average price of $225 a night for the 4 nights, $900+ and having to pay for the premium wifi so that we could work from the room...I would not suggest anyone stay here. We will not be back to this hotel if we ever come back to the area.

Very disappointing Hotel I never write reviews but feel very strongly about this hotel so feel obliged to warn others. I would NEVER stay here again. We did a 21 day Deep South trip and this was the worst hotel in the US I have ever stayed in. Hampton Inn Downtown is in DESPERATE need of a full renovation. The rooms are very old, damaged, dirty and smelly. The furniture really should not be used any more. its old fashioned, damaged and not fit for purpose. The windows were in need of a clean, so dirty you couldn't see out of them and the paint badly peeling. The bathroom sink did not drain once filled, the shower very dirty along the glass door hinges. The bedroom mirror had a dangerous crack right along it, V dangerous if children were in the room as it could easily have fallen out and was very sharp. The elevator was very noisy, unbearable I imagine if you had a room nearby. My friends bed was only half made, bottom sheet missing. I could go on.... but I think you get the picture. Thankfully we were only staying one night or else I would have checked out immediately and found somewhere else. The breakfast was very average. Hilton - please please spend some money on this hotel urgently. It's in a great location and your customers deserve better.
