Customer Disservice 1. Prepaid for my room and on arrival no front desk staff were on the premises. Security guard then told me due to a mistake, I was locked out of my room until the following day. 2. No hot water 3. Used dirty linen on bed in my arrival that I had to change myself. 4. Resort staff were indifferent and unhelpful about these problems; made excuses and were evasive about providing me the managers contact info.

MAJOR ISSUE AT CHECKOUT Nice place to stay, however we had a major issue at checkout. First time my wife and I, and I suspect most other guests, have ever experienced such a situation. Just before 10am my wife and I took most of our luggage to load up the car and then we went back to the room to retrieve our remaining items. To our shock, when we got to the room, we were locked out as our electronic room keys did not work any more. Although we knew checkout time was 10am and we were in the process of checking out, we did not realize that at exactly10am that we would automatically be locked out of our room such that we could not get back in to retrieve our remaining luggage. This is totally ridiculous and my wife and I have never had an experience like this before. We had to make a long walk back to the reception guest to get our rooms keys re-activated in order to be able to get our remaining possessions. There were several other guests in the same situation so we had to wait our turn to get re-activated keys. Totally frustrating and stressful since we had to return the rental car and make our flight. I cannot believe the hotel doesn't allow a say minimum half-hour or one-hour grace period before locking people out of their rooms, and they certainly can't clean all the rooms at the same time. Instead their ridiculous policy caused needless frustration to many guests, something I suspect that occurs every day. And they don't write anywhere or tell you that at exactly 10am you will be locked out. Forgetting the fact that 10am is early, and 11am would be more generous, they shoud at least warn you that you will be locked out and not let you have the shock of your life when you go back to the room for your possessions that you are automatically locked out. I'm taking the time to write a detailed review in the hope that hotel management reads the review and revises things such that they advise future guests of this and program the lockout time to minimum 10:30am or even 11:00am. If they don't, and defend their policy and keep things the way they currently are, would be another shock to me.

LaCosta Beach Club - Good resort but terrible beaches We stayed in a beach front condo. La Costa is a nice beach resort that is well maintained and has a very good staff. I had an issue with the room lock that required a digital reset and the response was prompt. Our room had a nice balcony and view of the ocean. I expected a king size type bed but the only beds were a Murphy and sofa with not so comfy mattresses. It wasn't so bad and other than that the room was fine. There was a nearby beach grill that was excellent. However, I was highly disappointed with the beach and the ocean water. I haven't been to this area in a long time and I expected beautiful ocean water. Instead, there was ugly sawgrass or red seaweed everywhere in the water and washed up on the beach. You step through it to get to the water and then it's everywhere in the water. This made the water ugly and swimming/floating very unpleasant. It would get all over you. When I spoke to locals and googled, I found out that this is not the exception but very normal now. Sad to see what happened to the Florida beaches. My home state of NJ actually has far nicer beaches and ocean water now than this region does, at least when the sea weed is here.. Second- there were areas of the small resort beach blocked off for Sea turtle eggs. This was fine but be advised that you could not use the balcony light or any lights on the beach during the night hours. Third - I expected a quiet private beach and instead they had scheduled organized children's groups to use the beach just a few feet from where my expensive rental umbrella/chairs were placed. For these reasons, I will not return to this area for a beach vacation.
