DO NOT STAY HERE- Health Department Intervention Required This place was AWFUL. The receptionist Beverly smelled and looked as if she had been smoking Marijuana when I attempted to check in, and maybe I disturbed her, because she was extremely mean and nasty to me the whole interaction. The only reason I didnt turn back and leave at that moment was that it was late, and I was checking out at 6:00 AM anyway. The hotel itself is a DUMP. Its filthy, trash everywhere, liquor bottle piled up outside, reeks of weed and cigarettes, everything looked as if the health department should intervene and shut this place down. DO NOT STAY HERE Literally 2 days later, me and both of my sons have rashes on the majority of our bodies. Presumably from bed bugs or some other fungus/flesh eating bacteria from the filthy place. How hard is it really to sweep up old mouse droppings?

absolutely LOVE it here i stay in hotels full time & have stayed at many other hotels but none of them as good as ESA. ms.joyce & james are both super professional & very kind. the room is in great shape as well. i don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. i can’t think of a single complaint about this place or the service i’ve been provided by the staff. definitely worth booking a room here if you’re planning on visiting raleigh anytime soon.

for the love of god, no this isn't a hotel - this is a homeless camp. the place is crawling with shady people and you notice it and see it from the moment you pull in. the pictures here aren't representative of the hotel at all. it's old, it's run down, it's decrepit, it reaks of smoke. the rooms are awful. there's trash everywhere. there are people who have clearly moved in and called this home. you hear yelling and arguments and loud TVs in the hall - you see people coming and going who clearly aren't staying there - you have people passed out in the hall. i noticed all of this in the 10 minutes from receiving my room key and going up to check the room. i looked out the window and had people scoping out my car - clearly it was going to get vandalized after the sun went down. i immediately went back to the front desk and checked right out and hit the road and stayed somewhere else. do. not. stay. here.

Dont Do it.... I booked this stay as a layover for 1 night with myself and my daughter sharing a room. It started off bad when the front desk person took their time coming from a back office area to check us in, and gave the excuse that it was "because their cameras were broken and they couldnt tell when someone was standing there." Perfect senario would to just be present because it's their job, or have a bell so that guest could alert them of their arrival. We were given a room on the first floor and had to be immediately moved to another room, as the first one smelled of must and had large stains on the mattress. The second room was equally as bad, to the point that my daughter and I debated sleep at all, but ended up sleeping on top of our coats, fully clothed, refusing to get under any covers. Additionally, everything from the fridge, to stove top, and tub are out dated. I would not recommend if you are looking for cleanliness and comfort, or like me, value your sleep.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!! WORST HOTEL IMAGINABLE!!! I've put in multiple complaints to management about maintenance issues over the past six months that I've been living here and nothing has been fixed. I've thrown away a total of $300 in food because of refrigerator does not work, the stove Sparks when I put something heavy on it, there are bugs everywhere, the door doesn't lock so my children and I are exposed to anyone being able to push the door open and walk in at night (some random guy walked in on us twice! ), it was raining in my room because there's a leak in the ceiling an inch away from the light fixture, outlets don't work properly, freezer is not freezing my food, dish disposal / dishwasher doesn't work, takes 3 flushes to flush the toilet, they have no first aid kits if you get hurt, and they don't properly maintenance any of their equipment such as fire extinguishers or elevators (I have photos of out of date equipment) because my daughter's arm got crushed in the elevator door and nothing was done about it. I've begged to be put in another room, especially after living here for almost two years and they won't even comp me after everything. They lie to me and my daughter about having toilet paper and getting clean linen and soap is always an inconvenience with day staff including the gm. They sit behind the desk and gossip about guests and I overheard them talking about calling cps on people in the hotel multiple times. People smoke any and everything in their room regardless of the no smoking policy, homeless people sleep in the stairwells. Dog poop sat on the stairs for weeks! This place is the ABSOLUTE WORST! DO NOT STAY HERE! I feel like the south side would be a lot more safe than this place, and cheaper!
