should have trusted the other reviews - cleanliness There was a pile of smelly garbage bags in the hall outside my room. My first room had moldy food growing in the heating unit and smelled so heavily of cigarettes, I had a headache and switched rooms immediately. My new room had an unstable bed that must have been missing a leg. luckily there was a second bed that only had a few long black hairs on the pillow and sheets. the floor was visibly not vacuumed. There was a sticky/smelly feel to everything leaving me feeling like every surface was contaminated and I am not a sanitizer clean freak but I used some this day. Upon waking up admiring the grey lines of dirty caulking that framed the bathroom tiles, I was blessed to discover the burnt out cigarette living under the bathroom counter I had missed the night previous during my initial room viewing experience. I was grateful to the front desk staff for promptly giving me a new room without complaint and I did see him take a photo to report the hallway garbage. I had two nights booked but I was pleased to move hotels to the best western across town and did a happy dance when I saw how clean their room was. Showering the ick off from the Days Inn the following night was the best feeling ever. I should have expected this when I read the google reviews, I just thought everyone had high expectations.

DIRTY Hallways, elevator and room all dirty! Not just dirt, but garbage in all these areas! Worst of all, it was obvious my bed had been slept in and the sheets had not been changed (also dirty) and worst of all, there was not just hair on the bathroom floor, but in the bathrub (along with dirt)! Disgusting!

Trick Or Treat Vacation What a great place to stay on October 31, really playing it up for Halloween. The moment I pulled into the parking lot they had a guy posing as Toronto police getting out of his black and white cruiser and questioning a guy in another car; what a great act and costume. To top it off they had big signs in the parking lot "Do not leave valuables". So then, after I checked into my room, I took a walk down to the lakeshore. Upon my return at sunset they had posed a couple of women as hookers who played their role, propositioning me, and then two other characters were pretending to be hoboes right at the motel entrance. One of them could hardly speak English and asked me if this was a hotel.  I was shy and didn't enter into a conversation. Inside the Days Inn, they even went so far as to put cracks in the light shades and framed picture glass and a piece of bubble gum as if to patch it, all very spooky and creepy. I love it, like an evening at the Bates Motel! I don't think there were any other tourists at this motel it seem to be all immigrants and refugees possibly subsidized by the government to stay there permanently? I got up and left before 7:00 AM carrying with me all of these once-in-a-lifetime memories of Scarberia.
