Holiday Inn Express Union City (San Jose) by IHG

Did it's job. Great staff. The room was large, but otherwise nothing exceptional. Would've been nice to have a safe in the room. Service was great, very friendly. Breakfast was also decent. Location is also good (if you have things to do around Union City), as there is plenty of food and shopping nearby.

Location is Key Married w/ kids stay visiting the Bay Area. The pluses: competitive rate for the surrounding area; less $125 offseason. Easy to find off i880. The area is SAFE & close to food, shopping, recreation spots & about a 20min drive to Oakland Airport. The hotel staff was efficient & nice but the service felt routine. The room was average & appeared clean, however, the message that appeared on the Foggy Bathroom Mirror suggested otherwise. Good pillows & Firm bed. It would've been nice had the pool been heated but the Spa was relaxing & towels are poolside. Breakfast is FREE so it was filling for the kids & nice HOT coffee. To work on: NOTE if u secure the room with a ATM Card there will be a $200 DEPOSIT in addition to the 1st night. ($ will NOT be Refunded bank into your bank acct for 7 days after check out) To be fair, the Hotel does offer to hold the CASH & when you leave you will instantly get it back but be prepared as it wasn't disclosed upon reserving so it can be a hassle especially if you are like me & hardly carry cash. 1 Elevator for the entire Hotel. BEWARE, of the cheap Blow dryer, it catches your hair in the fan while in use...OUCH & scary too. Overall, book this hotel with a location in mind because it was simply average.

Great for a week long business trip. The staff was accommodating and courteous. They helped ensure I had everything I needed. The breakfast was always warm and well prepared. It is located a short walk from a grocery store and a Walmart. I will stay again the next time I am in that area.

Very helpful staff and comfortable/clean room! My husband is in a wheelchair and the staff was extremely accommodating to his needs for a lower bed and a shower chair. The pool was peaceful but a tad cold when you first get in! Complimentary breakfast options were very good.

Winchester house and more Stayed here for two nights at the start of a road trip to Denver via friends in Phoenix. Plenty of free parking. Staff polite and friendly. Room good size, clean and tidy, medium TV with reasonable selection. Comfortable beds. Wi-Fi acceptable at 10.0 mbps down & 10.0 mbps up. Bathroom good size, clean and tidy. Plenty of hot water with excellent pressure, extractor could do better! Good size breakfast room with good selection (apart from the lack of low fat yogurts!). Some eateries (including a Cold Stone Creamery), a cinema complex and a Walmart within walking distance. Used it as a base for the area and to visit the Winchester house (recommended) in San Jose. The hotel is looking slightly tired, needs brightening up and my only complaint was some bins being emptied in the area at 4:50am, so try and avoid rooms that might be looking towards bins! Other than that a decent stay and would consider it again. Did not use the pool of fitness room.
