Nestled just beyond the University of San Diego, JP Longball boasts a bevy of trainers and training equipment. The family-owned and operated clinic crafts sluggers and slingers through comprehensive, step-by-step training in all aspects of the game, including pitching, catching, and hitting. Most on-hand instructors have been playing for years, and each lends their distinct philosophy to every dusty diamond visitor. If practicing players opt for robotic assistance, JP answers the call with five batting cages, two with dirt surfaces, and all with the capacity for fast, slow, curved, and high/low release points. During an hour of cage time, batters can expect to take cuts at approximately 600 lofted spheres.

The Yard is a state-of-the-art baseball training facility featuring multiple, full-length indoor batting cages with machines that hurl genuine, seam-laden baseballs. To abbreviate the ballistic learning curve, cages are outfitted with The Grid technology, which tracks the ball’s exit speed and provides a visual chart of where each hit would land if the cage had no walls or cruel, cruel gravity. A true trainer’s tool, The Grid emits constant feedback about changes in swing habits as well as up-to-date ratings against previous batters in the same swinging echelon.

Fun 4 All entertains clans with a merry mishmash of family-oriented indoor and outdoor activities, including miniature golf, go-karts, and a fully stocked arcade. Club-brandishing cliques can play their way across the polychromatic fairways of an 18-hole miniature-golf course, which offers all the excitement of a regular golf excursion without the added expense of golf-cart toll roads. The facility's circular go-kart course loops around rings of worn-out tires, generating a secure driving track ideal for young operators. Hone small-craft boating skills on vibrant yellow, green, and red bumper boats, which impart lifelong skills like steering and celestial navigation via streetlights. A broad-ranged arcade dazzles eyes with neon-hued entertainment that includes skee-ball, air hockey, and Shoot N Hoops.

Mulligan Family Fun Center's three locations surround parents and kids with sprawling smorgasbords of kinetic entertainment. Outside, each park's sunny grounds encourage healthy activity with putt-testing miniature-golf courses and the hairpin turns of go-kart tracks. In the batting cages, aspiring sluggers test their swing while recognized major-league sluggers test their disguise against the park's do-not-admit posters. Back inside, climbers scale the rock wall’s vertical challenges and friends battle friends in laser tag’s intense light-based combat.

Each location also has its own signature activities. The Torrance location's rookie go-karts, for example, enable younger drivers to take a turn down the track, whereas the Palmdale location boasts a longer, 1,500-foot track for children and adults alike.
