Zia Pizzeria, Albuquerque

Like many pizza places, Zia Pizzeria serves up Italian food favorites such as stromboli, calzones, and thin-crust pizza. But the eatery's owners, the Patel family, wanted to put a twist on tradition, so they decided to honor their Indian heritage by incorporating a few East Indian ingredients and flavors. That means that alongside classic toppings like pepperoni, Italian sausage, and black olives, you can also find tandoori chicken, a specialty made in-house. Other unique fusion eats include sweet chili or tandoori wings, which are baked instead of fried so they absorb less oil and don't make the oven feel left out.
